The Sickened Luna's Last Chance novel Chapter 370

**TITLE: The Perfect 370**

**Alexander’s POV**

As I pushed my way through the throng of onlookers, my eyes landed on Ella. She looked like a specter, her face pale as if all the color had been drained from her. I could see the tension coiling in her jaw, her gaze fixated on Gabriel, the source of her distress. A wave of concern surged within me, an instinctual urge to reach out to her, to ask if she was okay. But the scrutinizing stares of the crowd weighed heavily on my shoulders, reminding me that Ella’s true identity was still a closely guarded secret. It was crucial that we kept it that way, at least for now.

I shook my head, forcing myself to push aside my worry for her.

The situation was far too critical to dwell on my feelings. My former Beta, a traitor who had spent months lurking in the shadows, had finally dared to show his face. Here he was, standing before me, a picture of desperation, his eyes pleading for my forgiveness.

But forgiveness was not a gift I was prepared to bestow. Not now. I needed answers, and I needed them fast.

I followed the warriors as they led Gabriel down into the depths of the Ashclaw prison cells, the air thick with an electric tension. The cold, metal chair awaited him, and as they cuffed him to it, I noted the eerie calmness that enveloped him. He seemed almost resigned to his fate, which only fueled my anger.

“Leave us,” I commanded, my voice firm and unyielding as I waved the guards away. “I want to speak with him alone.”

They nodded, their faces serious as they understood the gravity of the moment. The heavy door slammed shut behind them, plunging the small cell into an oppressive silence.

Gabriel lifted his eyes to mine, and I could feel the heat of my rage bubbling just beneath the surface. This was a man I had once trusted, a friend I had confided in. Yet, the truth of his betrayal had shattered that illusion, leaving only the bitter taste of deceit in its wake.

“Sophia told me everything,” I began, my voice low, each word dripping with barely contained fury. “But then again, I suppose you already knew that, which is why you had the audacity to show up here, hoping to play the hero.”

Gabriel swallowed hard, the sound echoing in the stillness of the room. “I wasn’t trying to play the hero. I only thought—”

“Thought what?” I interrupted sharply, my voice rising with the intensity of my rage. “That I would forgive you for forging evidence against my mate if you came crawling back? That I would simply allow you to walk away unscathed after discovering you led Ella into danger on purpose?”

“No, of course not. I don’t deserve your forgiveness, Alpha.” His voice trembled with despair as he hung his head in shame. “I only wanted to turn myself in so you could punish me properly.”

“Bullshit,” I spat, the word laced with contempt. “You’re nothing but a coward, Gabriel. Ella saw through your facade long before I did. If I had been sharper, if I had paid closer attention, I might have recognized your treachery sooner.”

To his credit, he remained silent, wisely choosing to hold his tongue. Any words from him might have pushed me over the edge, leading me to strike him and shatter his teeth in a fit of rage. But I needed answers, and I wasn’t ready to break him completely. Not yet.
