Naomi pulled out her phone and hit record, determined to capture every second on video. Tonight, she was going to make sure Lindsay’s reputation was ruined for good.
“Lindsay seduces her own nephew”—now that’s a headline that would make people talk.
Yves maneuvered his wheelchair over to Lindsay’s table, his handsome face clouded with anger. His sharp eyes glinted coldly as he spoke in a mocking tone. “Enjoying a cozy dinner with my nephew, are we? Why not invite your husband to join?”
Lester didn’t respond, but his gaze was openly challenging, as if to say: See? Just one gesture, and Lindsay comes crawling back, just like she always did.
Lindsay’s expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly tried to explain. “Don’t get the wrong idea, Yves. I’m just having dinner with Lester, that’s all.”
“Oh? And if it’s just dinner, why haven’t you answered my messages?”
“I was caught up in the conversation. I didn’t notice my phone.”
“Lindsay, in this day and age, nobody’s phone is ever out of reach. That’s a pretty weak excuse.”
Lindsay pressed her lips together, lowering her voice. “Yves, can we talk about this at home? There are too many people here. Look, they’re all staring at us.”
“If you two are so innocent, why should you care about what other people think?” Yves shot back, his voice growing louder until half the restaurant was glancing their way.
Lindsay’s patience snapped; her face turned icy as she shot back, “Are you done yet? What do you want me to say to make you believe nothing’s going on between me and Lester?”
“The most important thing in a marriage is trust. I don’t mind you having dinner alone with another guy, but you should tell me first—not ignore my calls and texts.”
“So, you don’t trust me after all. If that’s the case, there’s no point in this anymore.” Lindsay’s tone was cold and final. She reached into her bag and pulled out three copies of divorce papers.
“Let’s get divorced. There’s no meaning in a marriage built on suspicion.”
