The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 205

Just as before, Jack poured another bucket of blood into the sea.

Lindsay was ready. As a shark shot out of the water, she gripped the rope with both hands and began to climb with all her might, stopping only when she was safely out of reach.

Her agility stunned both Arthur and Jack.

It was only then that Arthur understood why Lindsay had shown no fear since her capture. She wasn't helpless at all. But if she was this capable, how had his men managed to catch her in the first place? Could it be… she had let them?

Furious that Lindsay had escaped him twice, Jack lost his temper. "Cut the rope!" he roared at his men. "Let's see her escape that!"

"No!" Arthur reacted instantly, lunging forward to stop them, but Jack threw himself in his path, blocking him.

"Arthur, are you backing out on our deal?"

The words caught in Arthur's throat. He couldn't answer.

He watched in horror as one of Jack's men raised a knife to the rope. But just as the blade was about to fall, a blur of motion shot out from the entrance, tackling the man and grabbing the rope just in time.

The sudden jolt sent Lindsay plummeting toward the ocean, her body stopping inches from a shark’s snapping jaws.

Yves was sprawled on the deck, his hands gripping the rope for dear life. The friction tore the skin from his palms, but he clenched his jaw against the searing pain.

Jack stared in confusion at the newcomer, signaling for his men to pull Yves away.

But Arthur’s voice cut through the chaos. "If you want to die, go ahead and try!"

Jack looked at Arthur, bewildered. Were they all in this together? Was this just some sick game?

His legs had always been fine. It was the crushing guilt from Charles's death that had paralyzed him. But in that critical moment, seeing Lindsay's life hanging by a thread, his body had reacted on pure instinct. His legs had moved before his brain had even registered the command.

"Lindsay, you and Cheryl go downstairs and wait for me," Yves said, his voice low and dangerous. "I have some things to take care of here."

Lindsay glanced at Arthur and Jack. She knew exactly what he meant.

Cheryl quickly took her arm. "Come on, let's go."

Lindsay nodded and allowed Cheryl to lead her away.

The moment they were gone, Yves strode toward Arthur and, without warning, slammed a brutal punch into his face. Jack, seeing his chance, turned to flee, but Yves's men were already blocking his path.
