The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 206

"No one leaves without Mr. Yves's permission."

Jack glanced back to see Yves methodically beating Arthur, who was completely powerless to defend himself. A shiver of pure terror ran down Jack’s spine. If Arthur was getting this for simply being involved, what fate awaited him—the man who had actively tried to kill her?

Less than five minutes later, Yves was finished with Arthur. He turned, his chilling gaze locking onto Jack. With each step Yves took, Jack scrambled backward.

"This has nothing to do with me!" Jack stammered, his voice trembling. "Arthur lost her to me in the bet! He said I could do whatever I wanted with her!"

Yves ignored his frantic excuses. "Are you going to jump," he said in a voice devoid of warmth, "or do my men have to throw you?"

"I'm warning you, I'm from the Joyce family of Aquorathe! My family is not one to be trifled with! If I die, you'll go down with me!" Jack shouted, but the fear in his eyes betrayed his bravado. He could see the bloodlust swirling in Yves's gaze.

Arthur wiped the blood from his lip and staggered over. "King, I'm the one who dragged Jack into this. You've had your revenge on me. Let's just call it even."

"Who do you think you are?" Yves shot him a look of pure contempt. "If you don't want to die, get the hell out of my sight."

"King! The Joyce family isn't someone you can afford to provoke!" Arthur warned, his tone grave.

But Yves wasn't listening. The only thing that mattered was that someone had hurt Lindsay, and they were going to pay the price.

"He seems to like sharks so much," Yves declared, his voice ringing with finality. "Let's throw him in so he can join them."

At his command, two bodyguards seized Jack. His protests and struggles were useless. A moment later, he was hurled over the side.

With a loud splash, Jack hit the water. He was a good swimmer and quickly surfaced, but his relief was short-lived.

Meanwhile, on the fifth floor, Yves found Lindsay by the auction stage. Her attention was fixed on the woman still locked in the iron cage.

"You want to buy her?" Yves asked.

It wasn't that Lindsay wanted to buy her, exactly. She was simply trying to place the familiar face.

"Yves, don't! That woman is crazy," Cheryl whispered urgently. "This is the second time she's been auctioned. I heard she bit the last man who bought her to death. And then she… ate him."

Yves frowned. "That does sound dangerous. Lindsay, perhaps you should choose someone else?"

"I never said I wanted to take her with me," Lindsay mused, her gaze still on the cage. "But it's a sad sight, isn't it? Being gawked at like an animal. Buying her freedom would be a good deed, don't you think?"
