The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Mia was cleaned up and taken to a room. The nurses spoke softly around her, their steps careful, they didn’t want to wake

her.

She looked exhausted. Completely drained. But she was sleeping…finally.

Ethan sat right beside her bed, wide awake, his tired eyes moving between his little sister and the tiny baby in the clear bassinet beside her.

He couldn’t stop staring.

The baby was so small. So delicate. Wrapped tightly in a blue blanket, his little nose scrunched like he was annoyed about something, but even that made Ethan smile.

He looked like Mia. That was the first thing Ethan noticed. The same soft lips. The same cheeks. Even the tiny frown on the baby’s face reminded him of his sister. And for a brief second, his chest ached for her.

Ethan won’t lie, he sees a huge resemblance with Alex Blackwell but he wasn’t going to speak on it.

The nurse had reassured him that Mia was just sleeping. She had lost a lot of strength, which was expected, but she will be fine.

His heart felt heavy.

He had watched Mia go through her pregnancy alone. Well, not completely alone, he had been there, every step of the way,but Ethan knew it wasn’t the same.

He knew that as much as he tried to be her support, her protector, her comfort, it would never measure up to what she really needed. The father of her child. The one who should’ve been by her side, holding her hand, not him.

Ethan swallowed hard, blinking rapidly as he glanced down at his hands.

He remembered the nights Mia cried when she thought he was asleep. He remembered how quiet the apartment would be, how muffled her sobs were as she curled into herself on the couch or in her room, thinking no one heard. But he did. He heard everything. The pain. The sadness. The name she always whispered in her sleep..

Alex.

It made Ethan feel helpless.

There was a night he nearly picked up his phone to call Blackwell himself, to tell him what his sister was going through.

He had paced the kitchen like a madman, phone in hand, his thumb hovering over the call button. But then he stopped. Because what would he even say?

Alex Blackwell was the kind of man who had people running when he walked into a room. Rich. Powerful. Cold. Intimidating as hell.

Alex Blackwell will walk into a room and suddenly make everyone uncomfortable with his aura.

Somehow… his sweet little sister was in love with that guy?

He still didn’t understand it.

If someone had told him, he would’ve laughed in their face.

Mia and Alex Blackwell?

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, running a hand through his messy hair as he let out a slow, tired sigh.

The journey was just starting.

Being a parent wasn’t easy. He could see it already in Mia’s tired eyes before she passed out. The way she held onto the baby when they handed him to her….like she was afraid someone might take him away. The tears that ran down her cheeks even though she smiled.

The shaky breath she took as she whispered, “My little miracle.”

Ethan looked back at the baby. He was sleeping now, lips slightly parted, one tiny fist sticking out of the blanket like he was ready to throw punches at the world. Ethan chuckled quietly.

“You’re gonna be a handful, aren’t you?” he whispered.

He wondered what his name would be. Mia hadn’t told him. Maybe she hadn’t decided yet.

The baby made a soft sound, almost like a sigh, and Ethan reached out carefully, touching his tiny fingers.

“I’m your uncle,” he said gently. “And I’m gonna be here. For both of you. Always.”
