Felicia’s calm response put Savannah at ease, so she let the topic drop. Max probably wouldn’t even recognize Felicia after all this time. Years had passed, and any old feelings were bound to fade away.

Everyone stood up to toast Felicia’s return.

Anthony grinned. “With another powerhouse joining Roen Capital, Jeremy can finally kick back and relax for once.”

Felicia had joined Roen Capital as Director of Investment. At the same time, she was hired as editor-in-chief at a top finance magazine and would be hosting a national financial news show. She wore a lot of hats, but she made it look easy.

All that was the result of five years of nonstop effort. She barely slept, sometimes just four or five hours a night, always pushing herself to be better.

Savannah admired her completely. She often wondered how someone so smart and talented could work so hard and still keep going. Back in school, Felicia had single-handedly closed a major deal for Roen Capital in the US. Savannah couldn’t help but feel ordinary next to her.

She joked, “From now on, I’m just going to hang onto Felicia and hope she drags me to the top.”

Anthony laughed. “Jeremy, you really ought to send Savannah out for some training. At this rate, she’s going to forget how to do her job.”

Savannah shot right back. “Don’t you forget who landed you that project. If anyone needs training, it’s you. Maybe you should try focusing on work for once instead of hanging out with girls all day.”

Anthony couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m your boss, you know.”

“It’s after hours.”

Those two were total frenemies. They acted more like old buddies than coworkers, always teasing and bickering with each other.

In the past five years, everyone had been so busy with work that their love lives had taken a back seat. Jeremy was still the same—totally obsessed with work, never showing any interest in dating. Savannah joked that the line of girls chasing him could stretch all the way to France, but he was not moved at all. “He must be waiting for some perfect girl to sweep him off his feet,” she’d say.
