Nate glanced at him. “Looks like you know Evelynn too, Max.”

Max nodded. “Yeah, I do.”

“Jeremy introduced her to me before,” Nate went on. “She came by today to drop off a gift for him. Seems like Anne really likes her.”

Max just hummed in response.

After that, Max joined Nate for a game of chess.

Meanwhile, Mandy took Anne over to the pond. There was a little waterfall flowing over the rocks, surrounded by bright green plants. The water was clear and divided into three sections, each with different kinds of fancy fish. Mandy had always loved keeping fish. Wyatt had bought her all sorts of rare and beautiful ones, and there was someone who took care of them every day.

Anne was completely taken by the fish, watching them dart around in the water. Mandy handed her some fish food to toss in.

Felicia sat on the edge of the pond with them, just watching. Anne looked so happy and carefree that she couldn’t help but pull out her phone to snap a few photos. Before coming back to the country, she never thought she’d get moments like this with her daughter. Even if they couldn’t recognize each other as mother and daughter, just being close, watching Anne’s happy little smile, was enough for her.

Felicia sat on a bench, weaving a flower crown. She was wearing a white embroidered dress that day, her hair half up, looking soft and elegant. There was a gentle smile on her face as she worked, making her seem even warmer.

When she finished, she placed one crown on Mandy’s head and started on another for Anne. Anne’s hair was a little messy, so Felicia quickly braided it before putting the crown on. With the flowers and her neat braids, Anne looked just like a tiny princess.

Felicia couldn’t help herself. She leaned over and gave Anne a kiss on the forehead.

Anne’s eyes sparkled. “I want to give Evelynn a kiss too!”

Felicia leaned down, and Anne pressed a kiss to her cheek, giggling like she’d just gotten a treat.
