“Fine. You better show me how capable you really are,” Tatiana said, and hung up without waiting for a reply.

Felicia set her phone down and let out a long breath, her face just as tense. She knew exactly what Tatiana was up to. There would be an investigation, trouble at work, anything to make things difficult for her. Roen Capital didn’t worry her much. The TV station, though, that was a different story. If Tatiana made just one call, her job there could disappear in an instant.

And that was exactly what happened. That evening, her phone rang. It was the station director. He sounded uneasy as he told her her upcoming shows were put on hold. He even asked if she had offended anyone important. There was frustration in his voice. Felicia’s Saturday finance show had been breaking records every week, and he really valued her. But there was nothing he could do against a call like the one he’d just received.

Felicia didn’t seem fazed. “It’s alright. Let’s just pause things for now. I’ll get back to it once I’ve sorted out my other work.”

The director sighed. “Alright. I’ll see if there’s anything I can do to help smooth things over.”

“Thank you.”

The next morning was Friday. By seven, Felicia still hadn’t gotten a call from Anne. She felt a wave of disappointment, but didn’t regret what she had said the day before. If Tatiana ever found out her real identity, she’d do everything she could to keep Anne away from her. Of course she felt bitter about it. But there was nothing she could do now. She forced herself to shake it off, got dressed, and headed out.

She was on her way to Autumnridge today. Ava had already packed her suitcase for her. During breakfast, Colton asked how long the trip would take.

“It depends,” Felicia replied. “If everything goes smoothly, about four or five days.”

Colton nodded, reminding her to take care of herself.

After breakfast, Luke drove her to the office.

Elsewhere, Anne was having her own rough morning. She woke up to call Felicia, only to find her smartwatch wasn’t working. Tatiana tried to persuade her to get breakfast, promising they’d go fix the watch after breakfast. Anne asked to use her phone instead. The watch was broken, but she’d already memorized Felicia’s number.

Tatiana was surprised that Anne had memorized it. She could only make up a lame excuse that her own phone was broken too. Anne then tried the maid, asking for her phone, but of course the maid just shook her head and said her phone was broken as well.
