Felicia gave a little smile. “Now I’ve got the big boss himself stepping in to handle my work.”

Jeremy grinned. “You need to focus on getting better. If you’re not healthy, how are you going to make money for me? I can’t have you working when you’re sick. That’d just be a waste.”

Felicia laughed softly. “Alright, you win.”

“I’ll have lunch sent up for you,” Jeremy said, then glanced at Anne. “What about you, Anne? Anything you want to eat?”

The nanny spoke up. “I’ve already made lunch and some snacks for Miss Anne.”

Jeremy nodded, said goodbye to Anne, and headed out.

Anne waved after him.

A few minutes after Jeremy left, Felicia’s phone started buzzing. She glanced at the screen and answered. “Hello…”

She didn’t even get a chance to finish before Luke’s worried voice came through. “Felicia, are you okay? Why didn’t you tell me what happened?”

Earlier that day, Savannah had tried to reach Jeremy at work, but he was out. When she found out he had rushed to Autumnridge, she figured Felicia must’ve had some kind of work emergency and called him right away.

Jeremy told her the truth. “It’s nothing serious. Just a concussion and a bump on the head. Don’t worry, I’m fine. You don’t need to come over. I’ll be back as soon as I finish up here.”

Savannah was relieved and didn’t push to come by. But she accidentally mentioned the whole thing in the group chat.

That’s how Luke found out Felicia had been in a car accident.

“I’m really fine now. I just need to rest a bit, so don’t worry about me,” Felicia said.

“How did you end up in a car accident just like that?” Luke asked.

Felicia didn’t want him to stress, so she kept the details to herself. But Luke told her he was already on his way to the train station.

Felicia let out a helpless sigh. She knew there was no way to talk him out of coming, so she just gave up.
