Felicia couldn’t hold back. She slapped Marian, hard, right across the face. The anger was so intense it made her stomach twist with pain.

Ava rushed to her side, steadying her and helping her out of the villa, straight to the hospital.

Back inside, Marian and Amaris were left shaken and scared. When Max walked in, they immediately tried to pin everything on Felicia, spinning the story in their favor. Max just listened, his face unreadable, cold. Their confidence faded the longer he stayed silent.

“Where is she now?” Max asked, his voice giving nothing away.

Amaris shot back, annoyed, “We just said a few things and she lost it. Who’s she trying to impress with that attitude? She probably ran back to her family house.”

“Call her,” Max said.

At the hospital, the doctor checked Felicia over and explained her contractions were just from stress. Nothing serious, so no treatment needed. Once Felicia had calmed down, Ava suggested they go home.

Felicia shook her head. Going home would just make her dad worry even more.

Ava didn’t push. Instead, they ended up at a Spanish bistro Felicia had seen online. It was a new place, not cheap, but she’d been curious. Now that she was letting go of some things, her appetite seemed to be coming back.

They had barely finished ordering when Jeremy walked in. He spotted them right away and came over to their table.

“Mr. Milman, what are you doing here?” Felicia asked, surprised.

Jeremy smiled. “Anthony owns this place. He invited me to dinner, but he hasn’t shown up yet.”

Felicia blinked. “Wait, this is Anthony’s restaurant? Why don’t you eat with us, then?”

Jeremy agreed easily.

As it turned out, Anthony never made it. On his way over, his newly ex-girlfriend had called, threatening to jump if he didn’t come back. Anthony had no choice but to go check on her.
