The call ended and Andrea immediately started pouting. “Max, you have to spend time with me today,” she whined, her voice thick with disappointment.
At seven that evening, Felicia was rolled out of the operating room, pale and still, an oxygen mask covering her face. The moment her family caught sight of her, they rushed over, worry etched on every face. The doctor stepped forward. “She’s out of danger now. She’s very weak though, so she needs plenty of rest.”
Those words were enough to make everyone breathe easier. The tension in the air melted away, replaced by a quiet sense of relief.
Felicia was moved into her room. Jeremy and the others waited outside. Inside, Ava, Colton, and Greg stood by, listening closely as the doctor explained what Felicia needed. Colton kept thanking the doctor, tripping over his words in gratitude.
Once the medical staff left, Colton and Ava turned to the people waiting in the hallway, thanking each one of them.
Jeremy nodded. “The most important thing is that Felicia’s okay. Make sure she gets plenty of rest. We’ll come back in a couple of days to check on her and the baby.”
Colton managed a tired smile. “Really, thank you for being here with Felicia.”
Jeremy and Savannah said their goodbyes and left. Luke chatted with Greg for a little while before heading off too.
The baby was still in the incubator. Ava and Colton couldn’t even see her yet. Their biggest worry was Felicia, not the baby.
Max never showed up that day.
The next morning, Felicia still hadn’t woken up. The baby was moved from the incubator into a regular nursery, just one room over from Felicia’s. A dedicated nanny watched over her.
Miranda, Brysen, Tatiana, and Brandon arrived early to meet the newest member of the family. Miranda scooped the baby into her arms, gently pressing her tiny fingers. “Anne is such a beautiful little girl.”
The name was already decided. Anne.
Wide-eyed and curious, baby Anne stared at the faces around her, taking it all in.
That’s when Max finally showed up. Tatiana’s face lit up when she spotted him. “Max, come here, you have to see your daughter.”

The story is a drag. How can they write crap like this where the female lead is like a lapdog, and the male lead is a complete trash? They use a child to blackmail the mother into staying. The female lead should not go back to the trashy male lead. I would prefer her to be with Jeremy....
