Felicia noticed the man stepping into the room. Max came over, cradling the baby in his arms, and carefully placed her down next to Felicia. She turned her head to look at her daughter, a gentle, loving smile lighting up her face. The baby saw her mom and broke out in a happy little giggle.

Felicia wanted so badly to hold her, but she couldn’t move just yet. Ava watched them both, her lips curving into a smile. She longed to cuddle the baby too, but held back.

Comfortable beside Felicia, the baby soon closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Felicia, her voice barely above a whisper, looked up at the man. “What’s her name?”

“Anne,” Max answered.

Felicia repeated it softly. “Anne.” It really was a lovely name.

She asked Ava to snap a photo of her and the baby together. After that, Max picked the baby up again. “Get some rest,” he told Felicia, then walked out with their daughter in his arms.

Three days slipped by. Felicia started to feel better and could manage a few steps, though she still needed to stay in the hospital a bit longer for observation. The baby had already been taken back to the Hawthorne family estate.

Jeremy and Savannah came to visit, but the baby wasn’t there. Felicia showed them the photo instead.

“Focus on getting well, and take care of yourself,” Jeremy said. Anything more felt unnecessary. Felicia nodded. “I know.”

While she was in the hospital, Savannah stopped by every day to chat and keep her company. Luke dropped in from time to time too. He told her the baby was at Oakridge Estate, under the care of a dedicated team. All the Hawthorne relatives had been by to visit the new addition. The whole Hawthorne family was filled with a quiet joy.
