The Undead and Unstoppable Apocalyptic Queen novel Chapter 629

Chapter 629 Alarm

The piercing wail of fire alarms shattered the still air.

Kobe spun around, and his eyes locked on the warehouse behind him.

Flames erupted, roaring higher with each passing second.

H

For a man who built his name on precision, the sight tore his composure apart.

Fire.

The thought alone rattled him.

His voice rose, harsh and frantic.

No! This cannot be real! If I lose anything, I lose everything! Get that fire out! Now!

He broke into a sprint, his men thundering after him.

The yard dissolved into bedlam.

Caleb!

Lilian’s cry split the chaos as she flung herself into her husband’s arms. Her face twisted in panic, her body trembling.

Fear gripped her heart. They had already helped Theresa.

The second someone pulled surveillance, their secret would burn them alive.

A voice cut through the madness. It was steady, almost calm.

Come with me. I’ll get you out.

They turned toward it. Through the crush of bodies, Theresa emerged, her shoulders bent beneath the limp figure tied to her back.

Five minutes later, the gates of Workshop Two clanged open. Theresa pushed Lilian, Caleb, and two others through.

The clock read eight.

Outside, the island crawled with guards.

Patrols filled every road. Security tightened like a noose.

Half the squads were still locked in combat with zombies in Workshop 3.

The rest spread across the island, searching for intruders.

In the guardroom, twenty men crowded before glowing monitors.

Their eyes darted left and right, watching for the slightest irregular face.

Then came a thunderous rumble.

Explosions tore across the island.

Patrol squads whipped around and bolted toward the rising smoke.

There! Workshop 3! People just came out!a guard shouted.

His finger jabbed at Theresa’s group as they broke into the open. His pulse hammered in his throat.

These were the infiltrators.

But as Theresa crossed the gate, the monitors flickered.

One by one, the screens went black.

Her image vanished.

Far from the wreckage, a quiet beach lay under the morning sky.

A motorboat bobbed on the tide.

On its deck, Quentin crouched low, tightening bolts on an engine.

His men worked at his side, hauling and fitting parts.

One frowned and muttered. Boss, what are we even doing? They told us to chase the intruders, and you’ve got us stuck fixing this boat.”

Quentin didn’t pause. His tone was smooth, almost amused. Chase who? I’m the intruder.

The men froze.

Their eyes bulged.

Before they could speak, Quentin’s voice hardened like steel. You can’t back out now. Yesterday you helped me plant those bombs. That means they already marked you as mine.”

Finished.

Quentin sneered, his tone sharp. You’ve got no choice left. You stay with me, or you die with them. I fall, you fall. If you want to live, then move. Guard the shore. Keep everyone back.

The men stiffened. They swallowed their fear and obeyed.

Soon guards rushed onto the sand. See anyone suspicious?

Quentin’s men shook their heads with frantic force. Nobody here! We checked already!

By half past eight, Theresa burst onto the beach with her group.

The lead guard snapped his rifle up. His voice cracked like a whip. Stop! Nobody comes closer! This place is clear. Get back!

Theresa’s stride didn’t falter. She slammed her boot down hard and glared at him. Her voice lashed out. Look closer! I’m your leader!

The guard froze. His breath hitched.

That quiet, forgettable captain. It was her.

Behind them, Quentin’s voice roared like a cannon.

Move it!

Theresa shoved her people into the boat.

Quentin twisted the throttle. The motor thundered, and the boat shot forward.

Above them, rotor blades hammered the air.
