**CONTENT: Chapter 685 Project Genesis**
Professor K lifted his gaze, locking eyes with Theresa, a glint of fervor flickering behind his glasses. “Indeed. Our ambition is to forge an entirely new civilization—a zombie civilization.”
Theresa’s heart raced, her breath hitching at the audacity of his words. “A zombie civilization? What on Earth are you talking about?”
A sardonic smile crept onto Professor K’s lips, a mix of arrogance and madness. “Look at history. We’ve seen countless human civilizations rise and fall, haven’t we? So, why not a civilization of zombies? You’ve witnessed it yourself, haven’t you? They possess the capacity for evolution, just as we do.”
“Sure, early-stage zombies are chaotic and lack structure, but as they evolve, they begin to exhibit a form of self-awareness. If you delve into history, you’ll see that’s how we, as humans, learned and adapted through the ages.”
“The Starborn Order aims to facilitate this evolution in zombies. We aspire to aid them in constructing a brand-new world order.”
At that moment, Theresa’s perception of Professor K shifted dramatically. He was no longer just a mad scientist in her eyes; the absurdity of his declarations painted him as something far more sinister, a being whose inhumanity defied description.
Finally, she managed to utter a single word, the weight of it hanging in the air. “Why?”
“Human civilization is stagnant, mired in primitiveness. We are trapped within our fragile carbon-based existence, shackled by limitations.”
He gestured animatedly, his passion igniting the air between them. “Our lifespans are fleeting, and we rely on countless necessities just to survive—food, water, even air. Our biological constraints have hindered us from achieving anything truly remarkable. Humans are destined to fade into obscurity.”
“But zombies? They are different. Their genetics have mutated, freeing them from these constraints, these chains. They do not age, they do not perish, and their physical prowess far exceeds that of ordinary humans.”
“They have even cultivated unique abilities—special skills tailored to their existence. Their evolution holds the promise of infinite potential. Zombies represent the superior species.”
With an intensity that sent shivers down Theresa’s spine, Professor K leaned closer, his voice dropping to a solemn whisper. “They are the future. The future of civilization itself.”
Theresa fell into a contemplative silence, grappling with the madness of his vision. “So… what you’re suggesting is that your idea of evolution involves transforming every human into a zombie, allowing them to reign over the Earth?”
Professor K chuckled darkly, a glimmer of satisfaction in his eyes. “You could certainly interpret it that way. Out with the old, in with the new. A zombic civilization promises so much more.”
“But what does this new civilization have to do with us? Have you forgotten that you are human too?”
Professor K shook his head, a nonchalant expression plastered across his face. “I am ready to embrace the change.”
“What about your dog, then? Are you prepared to accept your fate when you become a zombie and tear your beloved pet apart with your own teeth?”
The question hung in the air, heavy and accusatory. Professor K fell into a profound silence, the weight of her words striking him hard.
His dog, sensing the tension, pressed against him with a soft whine, nudging its head against his palm, seeking comfort. The warmth radiating from the creature made it impossible for him to respond honestly—or at all.
He absentmindedly patted his dog, the silence stretching uncomfortably between them. Finally, he murmured, “Regardless, the Starborn Order’s Project Genesis is an unstoppable force once set in motion. There’s nothing you can do to change that now.”
With that, he turned his wheelchair, his loyal dog trotting alongside him as they departed. It was clear he intended to spend whatever time remained with his furry companion.
