She knew Harold and Nathan wouldn’t let her off the hook so easily, but she hadn’t expected them to reappear in her life under the guise of “collaboration.”
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Dean Channing. “Dean Channing, about this partnership—”
“I understand you might have some reservations,” Dean Channing interrupted gently, his tone sincere. “Vanguard Technologies has extensive expertise in drone core components. With their support, the project will move forward much faster.”
“The board has already reviewed everything. This partnership is all upside—there’s no downside for us.”
Danielle fell silent for a few seconds.
She understood the significance of the project, and she knew that, with the institute’s current resources, achieving real progress in a short time would be difficult.
Vanguard’s involvement really could solve a lot of issues. But the thought of working with Harold and Nathan again made her scalp prickle.
“I’ll agree to it,” Danielle finally nodded, “but on one condition: during this collaboration, all technical decisions must be led by us. Vanguard Technologies is there to support, not interfere with research and development.”
Silas immediately nodded. “Absolutely. We completely respect Chief Engineer Crawford’s authority and will cooperate fully.”
By the time Danielle left the dean’s office, dusk had already fallen.
She walked home in the cool evening air, and finally, some of the tension coiled in her chest began to ease.
Pulling out her phone, she texted Kirsten: *Vanguard Technologies just joined my current project. Harold and his crew just won’t leave me alone.*
Kirsten replied almost instantly: *Those guys are like a bad penny. Be careful, okay? If you run into any trouble, call me—I’ll help you figure it out.*
Danielle stared at the screen for a moment.
Niki caught sight of a cartoon mascot near the gate and immediately wriggled free from Danielle’s grasp, dashing over for a photo, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons as she grinned for the camera.
Danielle stood to the side, watching her daughter’s happiness with a heart full of relief and joy.
She pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of Niki’s bright smile, making a mental note to send it to her mother, Vivian, later tonight.
Just then, a sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up to the curb, drawing stares from the crowd.
Danielle’s gaze drifted over—and as the door opened, Nash stepped out.
Seeing him, her heart sank just a little.

I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
