Raffy stared at Alexander. The face that had once looked at him with such warmth was now a mask of impenetrable coldness. He felt a tremor of fear, and his small body instinctively shrank back. The stubborn defiance in his eyes slowly gave way to dread. This wasn't the "dad" he remembered—the one who would buy him toys and gently ruffle his hair.
Alexander looked down at him without a trace of pity. He vividly remembered when Millie had returned, announcing she was taking Raffy with her. He had agreed almost without hesitation. By then, Danielle had been raising Raffy for two years, teaching him to be polite and well-mannered, but Alexander knew how much she already had on her plate, raising Niki and managing her career. Taking care of another child was an immense burden.
Besides, Millie was Raffy's biological mother. It only made sense for the boy to be with her. It would also give Danielle one less thing to worry about.
He also remembered how Raffy's eyes had lit up like stars when he learned he was going to live with his real mom. He had clung to Millie, calling her "Mommy" over and over, only to turn around and lash out at Danielle with cruel words. At the time, Alexander had dismissed it as childish behavior, but he never imagined that in less than a year, Millie would manage to twist a once well-behaved child into the boy standing before him now.
"I'm not your father," Alexander said, his voice flat, stating it as an undeniable fact. "Your mother is Millie. And you know better than I do where she is now."
"You are! You are my father!" Raffy screamed, sobbing as he reached for Alexander's clothes. His tantrum drew the attention of everyone in the restaurant. Diners paused their meals to watch, and a few people even took out their phones to discreetly record the scene.
Tears streamed down his face. "The other kids there bully me. I'm too scared to even close my eyes at night…" He wiped his eyes with his sleeve, his shoulders shaking with pitiful sobs.
Danielle looked down at him, a heavy, aching feeling settling in her chest. This was the child she had raised from birth until he was nearly six, the boy she had loved as her own. Back then, Raffy had his moments of mischief, but he was also a sweet, considerate child.
She had heard bits and pieces from Nash about how Millie had neglected him, indulging his every whim without providing any real guidance or discipline.

This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
