He looked up, instantly on guard. He rose and walked to the door, peering through the peephole. He saw two familiar faces: Gian Atwood and Kirsten Delaney.
Alexander hesitated for a moment before opening the door.
“President Davidson. It’s been a while,” Gian said, his tone even but his eyes grave. He wore a black trench coat that gave him an air of quiet authority. Behind him, Kirsten clutched a file folder, her expression a mixture of anger and impatience.
Alexander stepped aside to let them in, closing the door behind them. He gestured toward the sofa but said nothing.
“We’re here about Danielle,” Gian said, getting straight to the point. “A lead state engineer disappearing during a field assignment has gotten the attention of the Strategic Intelligence Agency. Kirsten and I have been assigned to assist with the investigation.”
Kirsten slapped the folder onto the coffee table and glared at Alexander, her voice sharp with accusation. “This is all your fault! None of this would have happened if it weren’t for you and your family’s twisted drama. Danielle is in danger, and you’re just hiding in here, doing nothing!”
Alexander’s hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white. He didn’t argue. He knew she was right. Danielle’s disappearance was his fault. If it weren’t for him, Nathan never would have targeted her.
“Kirsten,” Gian said sharply, his voice a quiet command. “We’re here to help, not to fight. The most important thing right now is finding Danielle. We need to work together.”
Kirsten pressed her lips into a thin line. Though still visibly angry, she said no more. She opened the folder and pushed it toward Alexander. “This is what we have so far.”

“His goal isn’t just the company,” he added, his voice barely a whisper. “It’s something else.”
Kirsten frowned. “If it’s not for The Davidson Group, then why kidnap Danielle? He can’t have done it just for fun.”
Alexander leaned back against the sofa and closed his eyes, forcing himself to think back, to remember every detail about his brother.

I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
