But reason quickly regained control.
Just then, the silence on the deck was broken by the ringing of his phone. It was Nash.
Alexander took a deep breath and answered.
"Mr. Davidson, we're about an hour from the docks," Nash's respectful voice came through the receiver. "Also, Dr. Rebecca is waiting there for you. She said she's bringing your medication."
The name Rebecca was like a bucket of ice water, instantly extinguishing the impulsive spark in Alexander's heart.
He was jolted back to reality, remembering his depression and the mistakes he'd made when his emotions had spiraled out of control.
That's right. He couldn't be so selfish. He couldn't put Danielle in danger for a moment of weakness.
"Understood," Alexander's voice returned to its usual coldness, devoid of any emotion. "Arrange for me to meet Rebecca as soon as we dock."
After hanging up, Alexander remained on the deck for a long time, only turning to go inside when the boat began to approach the harbor.
His steps were heavy, each one a battle against himself.
He knew he was choosing to run away again, but he truly didn't know what else he could do.
By the time the boat reached the docks, the sky was already beginning to lighten with the dawn.
Danielle stood on the deck, scanning her surroundings, but she couldn't see Alexander anywhere.
A wave of disappointment washed over her, but she quickly rationalized it—he probably had something urgent to attend to.
Just then, Gian approached and handed her a jacket. "It's windy this morning. Put this on."

"Have you forgotten everything you did to my mother and me all these years?"
He paused, his voice growing hoarse with emotion. "When I was a kid, Grandfather doted on me, but you were always bad-mouthing me behind my back, turning him against me."

Jake's heart lurched, and his expression froze.
He stared at Nathan, opening his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
Some of the things Nathan mentioned had been intentional, others careless mistakes, but Jake had never considered the profound pain they had caused his son.

Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
