The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 903

"Relationships I thought were unbreakable," Danielle said softly, "turned out to be completely fake."

Alexander didn't respond. He just slowed the car to a stop in front of a small, late-night diner. "Their fish chowder is excellent. I think you'll like it." He opened his door and got out.

Danielle followed him inside. The diner was quiet, with only a few other customers. They found a table by the window. The waitress took their order, and the food arrived quickly.

Danielle picked up her spoon, stirring the chowder in her bowl, but her mind was still in turmoil. "Don't overthink it," Alexander said, his tone much gentler now. "I'll handle Harold and Jake. You just focus on preparing for the trial. You don't need to worry about anything else."

She looked up at him. She knew he was trying to change the subject to keep her from worrying, but she couldn't help it. The thought of Harold and Jake teaming up created a knot of anxiety in her stomach.

They fell silent, eating their chowder quietly. Danielle's gaze drifted to Alexander's wrist, where she could faintly see several light-colored scars. She put her spoon down. "Have you been taking your medication regularly? Are you feeling any better?"

Alexander's hand paused. When he looked up, the gloom in his eyes had faded slightly. He tried to sound casual. "Yeah, Rebecca's been making sure of it. Don't worry." He didn't elaborate on whether his sleep had improved or if his mood swings were less frequent, choosing only the words that would reassure her.

Danielle nodded, her fingertips tracing the rim of her bowl. After a moment of silence, as if she had made a decision, she said, "I'm going back to Nexus Prime in three days. I have a project at the Aerospace Institute that needs my attention."
