Chapter 5
Julius froze. The entire family froze.
My mother immediately rushed forward. Julius, this is Willow, Nina’s twin sister.”
“Willow? I thought she was dead.”
“She had only been missing after falling into the river. We all assumed she had died, but she was unexpectedly rescued by
someone.”
“She had amnesia before, but she recently recovered her memory and finally came back to us.”
“Then why is she wearing Nina’s clothes?”
Nina quickly positioned herself between Julius and me.
“Let me explain, my sister has always been very envious that I got to marry you. So she wanted to experience what it was like to be me, and I just lent her my clothes and jewelry to try on
“Then what about these injuries and all this blood on the floor?”
“It’s Willow. She insisted on playing a game of identity swap with me. She said she was so envious of my life and wanted
to be Mrs. Howard for a few days, too.”
“Of course, I couldn’t agree. Then she started throwing a fit in the house, and Dad accidentally pushed her. She fell and
hit the back of her head.”
Nina put on a pitiful expression. “We didn’t want you to see this mess, so we just had to lock her in the room.”
I desperately shook my head at Julius, managing to force out a single word. “No!”
Nina blocked me with her body. “Sister, I know you’ve had a rough time these past two years away from home, but that’s
no reason to be so unreasonable.”
She then turned to our parents. “Mom and Dad. Willow is badly hurt. Hurry up and take her to the hospital.”
My father immediately hoisted me up. As I was carried past Julius, a burn scar on my forearm was exposed.
I had gotten that scar accidentally while cooking for Julius; it was that very injury that had subtly deepened our relationship.
Julius instantly grabbed my arm. “Wait!”
I was about to feel a surge of relief that Julius finally recognized me when Nina let out a sharp cry.
“Oh. Sister, why do you have an identical scar to mine. too!”

With that, she rolled up her own sleeve, and there, clearly visible on her forearm, was a scar exactly like mine. My heart
sank into utter despair.
It was clear that Nina had returned this time fully prepared. No wonder my parents had kept checking my body during
my last visit home.
1 thought they were showing concern, but I never imagined they were plotting this deception all along. Nina started to
cry.
“Oh. Willow, Willow. It looks like you’ve been planning to replace me for a long time. How could you do this? I’m your
own sister!”
She faced my parents. “Mom and Dad, hurry and take her away. I don’t want to see her again!”
My father immediately carried me out the door. Overwhelmed by utter despair, I finally passed out.
When I woke up again, I was in a hospital room. My head was wrapped in thick bandages, and my parents were sitting
by the bed.
My mother glared at me. “Stop looking around. Your sister and brother–in–law have already gone back.”
“Don’t even think about going back to the Howard house and taking your sister’s place again. Everything you had before
was hers to begin with.”
“You’re going to stay quietly at home now. We’ll support you, and you won’t need to go out and work.”
Just stay put and forget about returning to the Howard family, and especially forget about replacing your sister!”
“If you behave yourself, you can continue to be our obedient daughter. If you don’t, then you’ll suffer the consequences.*
I barely hesitated. “Mom, Dad, I’ll be obedient from now on. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have gone against Nina.”
My father’s expression finally softened.
“Smart girl. Disobedience would have landed you in serious trouble.”
“There’s nothing else wrong with you, Hurry up and get ready to check out. The hospital is expensive, and since you’re
not going to die, there’s no need to waste money here.”
