Chapter 8
‘You’re the one who needs to shut up!
Julius clamped a hand over Nina’s jaw, making her cry out in pain. “That hurts!”
Julius tightened his grip, nearly crushing her chin. “If you dare scream at my wife again, I’ll rip out your tongue.”
Nina knew Julius’s methods, and she was terrified.
Julius, I actually realized after coming back that I truly like you. It’s all my fault for being slow to realize it, but can you
give me a chance to start over?”
Julius sneered. “You’ll have to ask your husband and son if they agree to that.”
He gave a subordinate a look, and the man brought in Charlie. Charlie was holding a one–year–old boy in his arms.
When Nina saw them, her eyes widened in terror, and she instinctively backed up several steps.
“Nina. I’ve been searching for you so desperately!” Charlie cried. “You said you’d never leave me! How could you break your
promise?”
Nina hid behind our parents. “Charlie, didn’t I tell you we broke up? Don’t look for me again! I have nothing to do with
you!”
“Even if you don’t want me, you don’t want your son either? Nina, you’ll abandon your own flesh and blood just to climb
the social ladder, is that it?”
*I was the one Julius was supposed to marry! You were the one who kept egging me on to run away with you!”
“If you hadn’t tricked me, why would I have sacrificed being Mrs. Howard to follow you to a distant place!”
*Nonsense! You were the one begging me to take you! You said Julius was a monster and a killer! You were sure he’d
torture you to death if you married him.”
“If you hadn’t pleaded with me, why would I have ignored my own family to go with you to such a distant place!”
“Now you see your sister living well and you want to come back and replace her? There’s no such thing as a free lunch!”
I remembered that in my past life, Nina had only returned after Charlie’s unexpected death, fleeing their substantial debt.
This time, she must have learned through our parents how well I was doing and returned early, looking for an easy life.
Nina became hysterical. “You’re lying! You threatened me into going with you! I never wanted to leave!”
Charlie nodded. “Fine, so you won’t admit it. Do you think Mr. Howard is so easily fooled? He investigated you a long time

ago. He knows everything about you!”
Nina swayed, barely able to keep her footing.
“Julius, give me another chance. Even if I can’t be Mrs. Howard, I can be your mistress. When you get tired of Willow, you
can try me.‘
Julius took a deep breath, having reached the limit of his tolerance for her. “I have never seen such a despicable woman. You’re not even fit to shine my shoes.”
“Alright, now that everything is clear, let’s settle the score.”
