Noelle had never planned to turn Flying Speed Racing into an international racing team, but she definitely intended to make money off it. She wanted to squeeze out every ounce of value from the team, all to ultimately shove that success right in Lola's face.
Two days later, Asher called the number registered under "Lucy".
Raising an eyebrow, Noelle shifted her voice and answered.
On the other end, Asher frantically said, "I need to ask you for something very important, Ms. Lucy. Could we meet in person?"
Noelle wasn't sure what had him in such a panic, but she had a fairly positive impression of him. He might be a little simple-minded, but he wasn't a bad person at heart.
So, she agreed and changed her appearance before heading out to meet him.
At an upscale coffee shop, Asher's expression visibly relaxed the moment he saw Noelle. "Thank you for coming, Ms. Lucy."
Noelle sat across from him and feigned a look of nonchalance. "What's up?" She couldn't recall any reason why Lucy's identity had such a close personal relationship with Asher that warranted a private meeting.
Wringing his hands, Asher looked at her helplessly. "I need to ask you a favor, Ms. Lucy."
He seemed deeply embarrassed and hesitated before blurting out, "My girlfriend, Quake, was in a car crash last night. She's currently recovering in the hospital.
"Given her current physical condition, she can't participate in the upcoming challenge against Team Moriane. So, I was hoping you could take her place and compete against the Morianese automotive companies instead?"
Asher had seen all the schematics Lucy had posted online. Her level of modification skill far surpassed his own, and while she might not be Quake's equal, he'd never encountered anyone more knowledgeable about car modification than Lucy.
Noelle's lips curled into a smirk as she replied, "Are you asking me to accept the challenge on her behalf, or impersonate her?"
Her face was sharp, and her voice dripped with provocation.
Since Noelle had stirred up trouble online and provoked Quake into accepting the challenge, Asher guessed she probably wasn't Quake's biggest fan. He understood that women just didn't get along sometimes.
Fully aware of how shameless his request sounded, he explained, "I want you to disguise yourself as her and compete. I wouldn't ask if I had any other option; she'd be there herself if she could.
Asher's pleading eyes turned to her. "So, will you help us, Ms. Lucy?"
Noelle pretended to think about it for a moment before saying, "I'll need some time to consider. It's being someone else's stand-in, after all. And if Albert finds out, it'd be so embarrassing."
Rising to her feet, she smirked and continued, "Still, I'll think about it since you're a Miller. I'll give you an answer once I've made up my mind."
Asher panicked. "But Ms. Lucy, Team Morianese will be here any day now. If we can't face them in the challenge, that's Stonegate's reputation on the line!"
"I'm not from Stonegate, so don't try to guilt me into it," Noelle snapped back, wearing a mocking smile. Her foreign facial features made it clear that she wasn't a local.
With that, she turned around and left, leaving Asher pacing anxiously like a cat on hot bricks. Just then, a message arrived from Lola asking how things were going.
Since the car crash and the loss of the baby, Lola had been constantly weepy and demanded that Asher always stay by her side. He'd been run ragged dealing with the aftermath of her mess, and seeing her message now, he wasn't even in the mood to reply.
