Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 172

That night, Noelle finally replied to Asher. She demanded 500 million dollars as her reward for joining the challenge as Lola's stand-in.

When Asher saw the message, he nearly passed out. 500 million dollars wasn't a small sum for him, but since the Morianese automotive companies were about to arrive in Stonegate, not paying the 500 million dollars meant everyone would have to shoulder the blame for Lola's absence.

The modification challenge was just around the corner, and as the event's executor, he had no right to refuse. After all, the challenge falling apart would be an international disgrace.

Lying in the hospital bed, Lola's grip tightened on the sheets when she saw the message from Lucy. Her face paled with rage. "How dare she demand 500 million dollars!"

The car crash and miscarriage had left her with a poor complexion, coupled with the additional help of light makeup.

She resorted to this drastic plan both to escape the challenge and get rid of the baby in her womb. Nothing and no one was allowed to stand in her way on her climb to the top.

Though Asher's heart ached at the cost, Lola was his girlfriend as well as Quake, the person he'd always admired. He couldn't just abandon her.

So, he tried to comfort her by saying, "This is the market rate. If she wins this modification challenge, the fame and glory will all be yours to enjoy. It's not a total loss either."

More importantly, he had to make sure the event wouldn't collapse under his watch.

At that, a guilt-ridden expression appeared on Lola's face. "This is all my fault. If I hadn't left the house that night, at least I wouldn't have been in a car crash…"

She began to cry again and wiped her tears. "This was our first baby, Asher. Do you think it left me because it didn't like me as its mom?"

Asher was utterly speechless. He couldn't understand how a barely conceived embryo without a heartbeat could have any awareness, but Lola wouldn't stop crying. So, to spare her feelings, he chose tolerance and decided to clean up the wreckage of the challenge on her behalf.

He felt that, as a boyfriend, he was already doing more than enough.

"Alright. Everything's in the past now, so let's not bring it up again," he said, holding her shoulders comfortingly. "We'll have many more kids in the future. Right now, focus on your recovery and don't worry about the challenge."

Lola leaned happily against his shoulder, and deep down, she was feeling quite smug. She would use this lost baby to chain Asher's heart and get him to propose to her sooner. Until she married him, she would never feel at peace.

Still, the thought of Asher giving Noelle 500 million dollars gnawed at her and pricked her heart like needles. That was 500 million dollars! Even she herself didn't have that kind of money!

Noelle didn't agree right away, as Flying Speed Racing was currently under Lucy's name. "I'll have to ask Lucy, or you can just reach out to her. Perhaps she might even be willing to transfer the team to you."

Managing a racing team was truly a hassle, so it might not be a bad idea if Raymond were willing to take it over. She could even make him the team manager.

Noelle found the idea increasingly appealing, while Raymond profusely thanked her before hanging up. She waited for over an hour before giving him a reply.

"Ms. Lucy says she can appoint you as the manager of Flying Speed Racing and give you some shares. She'll hand over full responsibility of the team's management to you.

"She's very busy and can't oversee everything, so she'll need your help to handle some matters."

Overjoyed, Raymond immediately wanted to arrange a meeting with Lucy to sign the contract.

Noelle arranged for a lawyer to prepare a contract and instructed the latter to meet Raymond the next day. She saw no need to show up herself.

This worked out perfectly for her as she hadn't been entirely comfortable leaving Flying Speed Racing's management solely to Lucas. Now, with Raymond involved, she felt much more at ease.
