Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 281

Sophia instinctively wanted to look away, but it was as if her eyes were magnetically drawn to Richard, utterly powerless to break free.

Every breath she took was laced with his cool mint and sea salt scent, intertwined with the subtle chill of medicine.

His gaze was like thick morning fog-vast, inescapable, enveloping her so completely that there was nowhere to run.

She knew this look from Richard all too well; she could picture exactly what was running through his mind.

Since that night in the tent, whatever had sparked between them was like a runaway stallion-wild, impossible to rein in, and completely out of control.

Just as both of them teetered on the edge of losing it, a voice suddenly broke the electrified silence-Jason, from behind.

"Ms. Evans, the kitchen just whipped up some desserts. Maybe you'd like to try and see if they suit your taste..."

Jason trailed off, gawking at how close their lips were-his old face went beet red

He spun around, flustered, and babbled, "You two carry on, carry on. Just pretend I was never here!"

Sophia's face went scarlet. She quickly leaned away, sitting extra straight, her ears going red, too Richard felt his ears getting hot as well. He glanced at Sophia, then called Jason back over.

Jason wanted to slap himself. 'How could I be so clueless?' he thought.

He set the desserts down on the coffee table. "Ms. Evans, go ahead and try them. They'll cool you off."

Sophia managed a grateful smile, picked up a dessert, and took a bite, trying to cover up how flustered she felt.

Sophia munched away, desperate to find something to do and distract herself. "This is actually delicious! What's in it?" she asked, hoping to break the tension.

"Milk pudding, mousse, and some cream," Jason replied. As he spoke, he instinctively shot a nervous glance at Richard, nearly tripping over the word.

'If I hadn't interrupted, Mr. Sterling would totally be making out with Ms. Evans right now, Jason thought, flustered.

He coughed awkwardly. "Uh, the gardener just stopped by and said there's an empty patch in the garden, asking what we should plant.

Mr. Sterling, any ideas for this season?"

Richard glanced at Sophia, who was totally lost in her dessert, looking so blissed out she didn't even notice the little smear of cream at the corner of her mouth.

Like it was the most normal thing in the world, he switched hands and reached over, gently wiping away the dab of cream from her lips, not caring who else was around.

Sophia's lips prickled at his touch, and she nearly choked on her dessert, flustered.
