Lucas was absolutely livid at Sophia's shameless swagger.
"Sophia, don't think I don't have the guts to sue you."
"Go ahead! All you ever do is run your mouth like some pathetic nobody. And don't bother harassing me with your stupid calls ever again," Sophia snapped.
With that, she slammed the phone down.
She took a deep breath, exhaling all the pent-up frustration from her chest.
When she turned around, her smile was back, mood refreshed, and ready to face whatever came next.
Richard watched her strut over, looking every bit like a victorious general.
A smile flickered in his eyes. "Done with the call?"
"Yeah, just some nobody. Not worth my time anymore," Sophia replied, falling into step beside him.
The weather was just right today; after a cool-down over the past couple of days, a fresh breeze drifted through the air, making everything feel especially pleasant.
Richard couldn't help but notice how the gentle wind teased her hair, and in that moment, she seemed to shine with vivid charm-so alive, so magnetic, he was utterly drawn to her.
"If you ever need backup, just say the word. Sterling Group's legal
team is yours," Richard said with a hint of a smile.
Sophia grinned at him, not about to refuse his offer. "Thanks, Richard. If I ever need it, trust me-I'll take you up on it."
When their eyes met, an awkward yet undeniably flirty vibe instantly filled the air between them.
Sophia cleared her throat and quickly shifted her gaze, strolling along the edge of the lotus pond.
Richard followed slowly, his eyes locked on her delicate, pale hand swaying at her side. 'If only I could just reach out and hold it, he thought, barely restraining himself.
Richard fought to keep his cool, then finally spoke in a quiet voice,
"That night..."
"That night was just a fluke, Mr. Sterling. No need to overthink it.
Besides, it's not like I got the short end of the stick." Sophia shot back.
Sophia's heart skipped a beat when he brought it up, and she hurried to make her position clear.
But Richard's face clouded over, his expression thunderstruck. "So, you really just think it was an accident?"
Sophia blinked, her gaze clear and direct, deciding it was time to set things straight with Richard
"It honestly was just an accident," Sophia said. "If anything, it's on me. I knew Emily was always up to something, but I didn't put my foot down and get her out of there, which just let her stir up trouble."
She'd been careless and hadn't watched Emily closely enough.
