Chapter 9
As concise as ever, Julian seemed certain that Eleanor would obey.
But this time, Eleanor deliberately downed a mouthful of whiskey right in front of him. “Mr. Blackwood, I haven’t had a home for ten years.”
Julian’s face darkened.
Sarah disliked Julian even more than Eleanor did.
She pulled Eleanor straight towards the second floor. “Mr. Blackwood, didn’t you leave your luxury life behind for love? You should go take care of your precious little wife.”
“Eleanor, let’s go. My brother just asked for your WhatsApp the other day. He’s really into you…”
Ignoring Julian’s dark expression, the two of them went into the second–floor VIP booth.
But not long after they sat down, the bar manager came in awkwardly to say that due to special circumstances, they were closing for the night.
Eleanor was no longer in the mood to have fun, but when she left the bar, she ran into Julian again.
It was laughable, really.
For years, she had struggled to even get a glimpse of Julian, and now that she didn’t want to see him, he was showing up on his own.
The man, with his cold demeanor, looked out of place standing at the entrance of the rowdy bar.
He walked up to Eleanor, his brow furrowed tightly as if he had something important to say, but all that came out was, “I’ll take you back to your hotel.”
“That’s not necessary.”
Since they had agreed to keep their distance, she would stick to her word.
After Eleanor refused, Julian didn’t follow her.
Eleanor returned to her hotel, checked her documents, washed up, turned off her phone, and went straight to sleep.
The next morning, Sarah took her to the airport.
When she turned her phone on, it was flooded with Twitter notifications.
Eleanor’s announcement about leaving the industry was on the trending topics list again. People online were gossiping that she was a desperate nobody and had to quit in disgrace to become some sugar daddy’s mistress.
Sarah couldn’t let that slide.
She logged directly into Eleanor’s Twitter account, posted about the inheritance Eleanor had received, and also showed off the three–hundred–million–dollar, heart–shaped pink diamond ring Aunty May had bought for her.
She even deliberately added a caption-
[Eleanor is a true heiress. None of you broke losers online could ever afford her. The goddess isn’t playing with you anymore; she’s quitting to get married!]
Eleanor was so embarrassed she didn’t want to take her phone back. “Sarah, my Aunty and her family are all waiting for me at the arrivals gate in Provence. You handle this phone for me.”
After she spoke, the boarding call for Eleanor’s flight was announced.
The two friends shared a final hug, and Sarah choked out, “Eleanor, you have to be happy from now on.”
