Chapter 100 Not Important

Xavier grinned. "Oh, I won't be shy about cashing that in."

With a light chuckle, he clapped Damian on the shoulder and walked out.

The room had two doors, and the person Damian had asked him to track down waited beyond the second one. Xavier didn't pry into the why. He only knew it tied back to the Fairfax family.

Damian stepped inside.

Inside, a frail, middle-aged woman with white hair sat, staring blankly at Damian. Her eyes glazed over for a long moment before she muttered, "My son... looks just as handsome as you."

Damian smiled, "Thank you for the compliment."

Meanwhile, on the terrace, Beatrice propped her head up, listening to her legend being retold for the umpteenth time.

The stories were dramatic, detailed, and downright absurd.

The most repeated claim was that her skills in bed were extraordinary, and among the wildest rumors was that she possessed an ancient, secret technique used to captivate men.

Scarlett had started out soothing her, but by the end, even she seemed tempted to join the gossip squad downstairs.

"Sweetie," she cooed, leaning into Beatrice's shoulder with a flirty pout, her voice dripping like honey laced with something stronger. "Do you really have such hidden talents? You can't keep the good stuff all to yourself, you know." She fluttered her lashes, looking downright bewitched.

Her emerald dress hugged her curves and glowed against her skin like a siren's call.

Beatrice rolled her eyes and downed her wine in one swift gulp.

She walked downstairs toward the gossiping group, her face dead serious. Raising her bracelet-covered hand, she started pinching her fingers together like she was casting some ancient curse.

The group froze, trading uncomfortable looks.

What was this crazy woman doing?

After a moment of her weird finger-counting, Beatrice let out a dramatic sigh and stared them down. "Within a week, disaster's coming for all of you."

With that, she walked away, leaving the others stunned and speechless. Gradually, their expressions shifted to one of fear and unease.

Scarlett nearly doubled over laughing as she followed Beatrice back inside. "Oh, honey, you're an absolute menace!"

Beatrice kept her face stony, voice grave. "Who says I was kidding?"

Scarlett blinked, half-convinced by her serious demeanor. "Really?"

"Real to the core," she quipped, her mask cracking.

"You little brat!" Scarlett huffed, giving her a playful shove.

Despite the joking and the chaos, Beatrice was genuinely feeling down. She couldn't just do whatever she wanted in this situation. She had come with Damian as his companion, and if she ended up tearing someone's hair out at the party, it would definitely be inappropriate.

She scanned the room and spotted Xavier emerging from the back, but no sign of Damian.

Guess he's finally meeting whoever he really came for.

Who's that mysterious VIP?

"Hey, Ms. Goddess," she said, nudging her friend. "Any idea who Mr. Langley's mystery guest is tonight?"

"Isn't it your man, Damian?" Scarlett teased, batting her lashes.

Beatrice rolled her eyes and didn't even bother correcting her this time. "Besides him?"

"Nope. If Mr. Langley deems someone a big deal, it can only be your..."

"Okay, okay, I get it!" Beatrice cut her off, irritated.

"Aw, look at you, blushing!" Scarlett cooed.

Beatrice's eyes rolled so hard they nearly vanished into her skull.

Blushing? No, I'm freaking out!

She let out a quiet sigh. Even Scarlett was clueless about that mystery guest. Whatever VIP Damian was chasing must be too hush-hush to show their face.

But what kind of titan is so far out of Damian's reach that he'd need Xavier to play middleman?

The party was dead anyway, and Damian was long gone. Beatrice turned to Scarlett. "Want to bail and get some real food?"

Scarlett could see how much this place was suffocating her friend.

"I'm in," she said quickly. Besides, Damian had made it clear—keep his girl happy.

The two of them arrived at a restaurant on the fifth floor and casually ordered a few dishes.

Beatrice glanced at her phone and noticed that Violet hadn't replied yet.

Frowning, she dialed her up.

After a moment, Violet picked up.

On the other end, her voice was laced with excitement, yet she whispered, "Hey, Beatie, I've got some great news. I've found the evidence that'll bring that wretch Madeline down for good! Even the heavens couldn't save her now. She's done for! I can't talk right now, I'm shutting my phone off! Fill you in later!"

With that, she hung up.

Beatrice stared at her phone, stunned for a solid two seconds.

Desmond's threatening words from earlier today detonated in her mind like a live grenade.

She frantically redialed.

It went straight to voicemail.
