Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20 Flushed Face

The door slammed open with a deafening crash, and the needle that had been aimed at Beatrice’s thigh froze in midair.

The men in the room were visibly shaken, eyes wide with panic.

as they glanced toward the door. Some made a run for it, but

they barely took a few steps before the blackclad security guards swooped in, slamming them to the ground and dragging them out like rag dolls.

The chaos was absurd. Some of the men had lost their towels and were scrambling around, bareassed, their desperation making the whole scene even more awkward.

The security didn’t waste time. Within moments, the room was cleared, and no one dared to look at the bed.

The female supervisor who had entered with the guards quickly covered Beatrice with her clothes, untied her hands, and made sure she was okay before stepping outside to report.

Damian was waiting outside, his expression colder than ever. How is she?

She’s okay, the supervisor said, though her voice was strained. We got here just in time. She’s not hurt, butshe’s shaken up. I think she’s in shock.

Without a word, Damian walked into the room.

Beatrice was curled up in his clothes, her hair a tangled mess. Her face was pale, and there was a faint smear of blood at the corner of her mouth.

She trembled, her body shaking like a fragile leaf caught in the wind, beautiful, but in a way that was heartbreaking, like a flower crushed by a snowstorm.

He crouched down, his fingers brushing lightly against her cheek.

She responded almost instinctively, pressing her face into his hand, seeking the warmth of his touch.

Damian froze, feeling something stirring in his heart.

Just as he was about to pull his hand away, her eyes fluttered open.

They were clouded at first, then cleared, only to fill with sorrowful, pleading emotion. The look in her eyes was that of a wounded animal, vulnerable and desperate for comfort.

His heart twinged. He reached out with his other hand, gently brushing her hair back.

It’s alright. No one can hurt you now,He comforted her.

And then she broke. The tears poured from her eyes in a steady stream, each drop falling into his palm as if her sorrow had no end.

Please don’t cryDamian had no idea what to do.

He wasn’t good at comforting someone or calming their fears. The more he told her not to cry, the worse it seemed to get.

The sound of her sobs filled the room, and even from the hallway, Gordon couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy.

Before the supervisor could leave, he turned to her and said, Not a word of tonight’s events leaves this place. If any rumors get out, it’ll be on your hotel.

The supervisor quickly promised to keep everything confidential.

She knew she couldn’t afford to offend someone like Damian with such power and influence. With what had happened to Beatrice at their hotel, she’d count herself lucky if they weren’t held accountable. There was no way she would risk speaking out of turn.

Damian lifted Beatrice in his arms, carrying her out of the hotel through a side exit.

On the way to the hospital, she continued to cry, her tears soaking into his shirt. It was like her emotions had broken loose, and she couldn’t stop them.

He felt helpless, unsure of how to make her stop.

But with her in this state, there was no way he could leave her

alone. So, he let her sit on his lap, holding her close as she cried, her tears and snot staining his shirt.

For more than thirty minutes, she cried nonstop, and by the time she had finally calmed down, he’d gone through an entire box of tissues wiping her face.

Eventually, she quieted, her sobs fading into silence. She leaned against his shoulder, her eyelids fluttering shut, the exhaustion of her outburst taking over.

As the car made a sharp turn, her body shifted, and her head leaned against his neck. Her soft lips brushed his skin.

Damian’s breath hitched, and for a moment, his heart skipped a beat.

With a poker face, he gently pushed her head back into its original position.

When they arrived at the hospital, Gordon noticed Damian’s flushed face. Sir, you’re looking a little red. Are you feeling alright?”

Enough with the questions,Damian muttered, his gaze icy.

Gordon wasn’t sure what he’d said wrong but kept quiet after that.

They had arrived at the hospital where they’d already made arrangements. The staff was waiting by the door, ready to take Beatrice for an immediate checkup.

As soon as Damian stepped out of the car, they rushed in to get her settled for the examination.

It was 12:30 AM.

Beatrice woke up in the hospital room.

She turned her head to see Damian sitting beside her bed.

His shirt was wrinkled, sleeves rolled up, and three buttons of his collar undone, looking like he’d just run a marathon.

Mr. Crowley, she rasped, her voice hoarse and thick with congestion.

Do you remember what happened?Damian asked, his tone low but steady.

I do,she answered, offering him a tired smile.

The events were blurry, but she wasn’t completely out of it when the attack happened.

Thank you so much, really. I can’t even express how grateful I

am.

Without his help, she honestly didn’t think she’d still be alive.

Damian studied her for a long moment before speaking. I’ve got

good news and bad news. Which one do you want first?

Give me both.

The good news is you weren’t assaulted, and the needle wasn’t injected. The one in the hall was just a sedative. You’ll be fine. As for the bad newsHe paused, his gaze hardening. This was all sel up by your husband.

I figuredBeatrice’s eyes dropped, her hands nervously twisting the blanket.

Damian didn’t comment on her marriage.

He went on, I played a part in this too. I’ve kept the people involved under control. You can either call the cops or settle it quietly. Let me know if you want my help with that.

You’ve already done so much for me,Beatrice replied, lifting her eyes. I’ll take care of the rest.

Are you sure? I can still help if you need it.

I’ve already owed you a big favor. I can’t keep asking for more.

Damian let out a short, amused breath, but before he could say anything else, her phone buzzed.

He handed it to her.
