So rough,Scott tutted as he sauntered in. How could they tie up such a delicate girl like this?

His voice was laced with mock sympathy. He closed the door behind him and flicked on a switch. A single bulb buzzed to life overhead, its yellow glow dim and murky, filtered through layers of cobwebs and dust.

With the light on, Beatrice could finally make out her surroundings.

The room resembled an old living roomcomplete with a cracked dining table, a sagging sofa, and a TV cabinet coated in grime. Everything was layered in dust, untouched for years. The place reeked of damp rot and neglect.

Her icy gaze snapped back to Scott.

Ooh, scary glare. He grinned, stepping closer to brush her cheek.

Scott rubbed his fingers together like he was savoring fine silk, then lifted them to his nose and inhaled. So fragrantwhat a shame it would be to throw a beauty like you into the sea.

She shuddered.

Terror surged through her veins, but this time she was fully alert. She began to strugglethrashing hard against the ropes, the chair groaning beneath her.

Crack!

One leg of the rotted chair gave out. She toppled over, crashing to the floor. Dust exploded around her. She tried to cough but couldn’ther mouth was still taped shut. Her face turned red from the strain, eyes welling with tears.

Scott crouched beside her, thrilled. Sensible girl, lying down on your own.

He reached for her calf, slowly sliding his hand higher. He was savoring her fear, the way her body tensed with disgust. Her tears only seemed to intoxicate him more.

I’ve changed my mind. I won’t dump you in the sea. I’ll keep you here. Come back whenever I wantI’m curious to see what Mr. Crowley enjoyed so much.

Beatrice glared at him with venom in her eyes.

Chapter 17 Beatrice Jumping Into the Sea

Don’t look at me like that. It’s just serving a man.His voice dropped to a coaxing murmur. I may not be young or handsome, but I can keep you alive. What’s more important than surviving?

This scumbag’s trying to brainwash me.

But then, suddenly, she went quiet.

Her lashes lowered, her body went stillas though she was considering his offer. After a few seconds, she looked back up at him, tears shimmering in her eyes. She nodded.

Scott paused, hand hovering at her waist. You agree?

Beatrice nodded again, even more pitiful this time.

She tilted her head toward the stairs, then looked down at the dirty floor and shook her head, as if pleading.

Scott chuckled, eyes gleaming with lust. Yeah, this floor’s disgusting. I get it.

He began untying the ropes around her ankles, then moved to her wrists. But before he could finish, his phone began to ring.

He ignored it and kept working.

But just in case, he looped the rope around her neck like a leash.

Let’s go upstairs,he muttered, yanking her upright.

Beatrice obeyed, walking with him.

She noticed his phone still buzzing and her heart raced.

They’ve realized something’s wrong.

Damian and Killian are probably nearby.

Scott flicked the upstairs light switch, but nothing happen pami

it,he muttered, yanking out his phone to use the flashlight. He finally declined the call in frustration,

Beatrice stayed alert, eyes scanning the layout.

A narrow corridor stretched ahead, lined with outwardopening windows on both sides, One window was shattered. Sea breeze rushed in, salty and damp.

The ocean was right outside.

This is it. My only chance,

She stumbled slightly, feigning weakness.

Scott followed, smug and relaxed.

Since untying her, she’d obeyed without resistance even while he fumbled with his phone.

She’s willing to trade her body to survive, he thought, pleased with his own brilliance.
