Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 165

Madeline froze, her whole body tense. Even though she and Julian had been married for three years, this was the first time he had ever held her like this while they slept. She just wasn’t used to it. Honestly, she felt so awkward she couldn't even bring herself to close her eyes.

And she couldn’t figure out what was going on with him. He felt different tonight, but she couldn’t quite say why. Her mind kept spinning with questions, and then, when she glanced over, she realized Julian was already asleep.

Wait a second. Wasn’t he supposed to have insomnia? When did he start falling asleep so easily? He looked like he was having the best sleep of his life. Why had he always acted so sick and fragile before? Had her treatments actually worked? That couldn’t be right. She’d only treated him three times. Could it really make this much difference? If so, maybe he didn’t need more sessions at all.

Madeline let her thoughts wander until her own exhaustion finally caught up with her. Without even realizing it, she drifted off to sleep.

It was around three in the morning. Julian opened his eyes slowly, looking more like a satisfied beast than a sleeping man. His gaze was as sharp and cold as ever, but as soon as he noticed the gril in his arms, his expression softened. In the soft light, Madeline was curled up against him, her face calm and serene.

A small smile played at Julian’s lips as he watched her. For some reason, just looking at her made him feel genuinely happy. She looked so sweet and peaceful when she was sleeping, nothing like her usual fierce, sharp-tongued self. He kept staring, breathing in her soft, sweet scent, thinking it was the best thing he’d ever smelled.

It was strange. When he was with her, he could actually relax and sleep deeply, something he hadn’t felt in years. He had no idea what kind of magic she had over him.

Julian’s fingers gently traced the lines of her face. When he touched her lips, they felt so soft he couldn’t help but feel a rush of heat inside him. He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. Just like he’d imagined, they tasted sweet.

Julian had never been the type to hold back, and after all, she was his wife. She belonged to him. If it hadn’t been for everything that happened between them, he figured their marriage could have lasted forever. Before all that, the thought of divorcing her had never even crossed his mind.
