Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 179

Julian was worried she might fall again, so he just lay down next to her. He stared at this completely carefree woman, his anger still churning inside. If he wasn't afraid someone else might pick her up, he honestly would have tossed her out himself.

The next morning, Madeline was jolted awake by a phone that wouldn’t stop ringing. Eyes still closed, she reached for the nightstand out of habit, grabbed the phone, and answered without even checking the screen.

“Hello? What is it?” Her voice was groggy, thick with sleep.

“Julian, help... Madeline!” Helene’s scream came through, raspy and raw.

Madeline was instantly wide awake. She opened her eyes, ready to respond, but then realized something was off. This wasn’t her room. She looked around, taking in the unfamiliar space, and then it hit her. She was in the old room she used to share with Julian. Which meant she was at the Grayson family home.

She shot up, heart pounding. How did she end up back here? What happened last night? She remembered being with Brenda, drinking some cocktail. She started to feel tipsy and went outside for some air. The breeze only made things worse. She tried to find the bathroom, but then she slipped... And after that, her memory was just a blur.

“Madeline, why do you have Julian’s phone?” Helene’s voice was sharp and grating in her ear.

Madeline looked at the phone in her hand. Only then did she realize it wasn’t hers.

At that moment, Julian walked in. His eyes were cold as they landed on her.

Not wasting a second, Madeline handed the phone over. “Helene wants you.”

Julian took the phone, didn’t even look at her. “What’s wrong?”

Helene was way too upset to care why Madeline was with Julian. The second she heard his voice, she broke down, crying hard. “Julian, please. Help me. I need you.”

Julian listened to her panicked cries, his own voice a little tense. “What happened?”
