Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 190

Julian shot him a look, his frown deepening. “Go get the doctor.”

Miles jumped up and hurried out.

Oliver panicked even more. He darted over, grabbing a fistful of Julian’s shirt. “Wait, don’t! I… it actually doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Julian stared at the little liar, then let out a resigned sigh and waved his hand. Miles nodded and slipped away.

Julian picked Oliver up and settled him on the sofa beside him. He asked, “School isn’t out yet. Why are you home so early?”

Oliver tried to come up with something, but his mind was blank. He let out a little sigh. “Because… I don’t really like school… Daddy, I already know everything they’re teaching. Can I just not go?”

Julian paused, thinking it over.

Noah was smart. He picked things up fast, and honestly, he’d finished all the material kids his age were supposed to learn. Julian had only sent him to school because Noah was so quiet and kept to himself. If he stayed home, he’d just be around tutors all day, and that would probably make him even more withdrawn. Julian wanted him to get out more, to make friends, to be like other kids.

“You don’t like school? Tell me why,” Julian said gently, watching him.

Oliver opened his mouth but hesitated. The kids at school had called him a kid without a mom. They said his dad would leave him too, that he was just some unwanted bastard. That made him angry. He had a mom. Her name was Madeline. He had a dad too—Julian. He wasn’t some bastard, no matter what they said. But he didn’t feel like arguing with those kids.

Then he remembered—those classmates had been his brother’s friends. That meant they used to say those things about his brother, too.

That was just too much. So Oliver fought them. It’s five of them against him, and they still couldn’t win. They all ended up crying and shouting threats at him. Like he was supposed to be scared.
