The ink on their marriage certificate was barely dry when the drama with those two kids forced Drusilla and Enoch apart. Blythe just couldn’t bring herself to do something like that.
“You mean Drusilla? Enoch’s wife is named Drusilla?” For a moment, Verena thought she had misheard.
Blythe looked at Verena and asked, “Why, you know Drusilla?”
Verena managed a weak, “Uh... not really. I met her a few times.”
She quickly took a sip from the glass of water in front of her, trying to hide her shock.
Well, I'll be damned! Talk about a best friend! That sneaky girl literally went and married Enoch and didn’t tell me a thing! She mused.
Blythe, observing Verena’s reaction, said, “About the paternity test, give it some more thought. Although... Enoch is married now, if the kids are indeed his, we’ll take responsibility and will never leave you in the lurch. What do you say?”
Verena, looking at Blythe’s sincere expression, replied, “I’ll consider it. But... I’d like to meet Enoch, maybe have dinner or something.”
She was curious to see what kind of man Enoch was to have won over her dear Drusilla.
Blythe responded, “Sure, I can arrange that. How about tonight? Are you free?”
Enoch was getting discharged tonight, so a dinner at home would work.
Blythe thought, maybe seeing Enoch in a wheelchair would make Verena reconsider marrying him.
Verena nodded, “Sounds good.”
…
At noon. Enoch was having his lunch in the hospital room. Even in a hospital gown, his dining manners were impeccable.
Seeing her attempt to butter him up, Enoch raised an eyebrow, “It's only been half a day and you miss me so much, huh?”
Well, it's not surprising. Women always seemed to gravitate towards him, so he had seen a fair share of clingy ones like her.
Drusilla was speechless.
Being with Enoch, she could tolerate almost anything, but his vanity was a massive challenge for her.
Men, it seemed, were naturally full of confidence. Do anything, and they suspect you're into them.
But Drusilla didn’t deny it; instead, she embraced her inner fangirl, “Yes! Enoch, I like you so much! You asked me to go back home last night, and I couldn’t sleep at all. I was just too happy! Actually, I didn’t want to move in because…”
“Because?” Enoch looked at her, curious.
