Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 165

Verena was stressed about the task given to her by Drusilla. She feared Drusilla might come after her if she failed!

After dinner, Verena told Blythe anxiously, "I need to head back now."

She had to hurry home with the kids. Her boss was waiting for the documents she was supposed to deliver. She had been making excuses at her boss's office all day, knowing there would be hell to pay later.

Lilith called the waiter over to settle the bill, and the group made their way out.

Cormac, trailing behind Verena, said, "I need to use the restroom."

"Sure, I'll take you." Verena said to Blythe and Lilith, "Please go ahead. I can take the kids home."

Blythe responded, "I'll come along. It's nice to be with the kids." After all, she enjoyed their company and would miss them once they were back home.

Lilith decided to join as well.

The group headed to the restrooms...

Colton and Cormac went to the men's room on their own.

Verena waited outside.

Lilith wondered if the boys could manage by themselves.

"Are they okay on their own?"

"They're fine," Verena reassured her. "Don't worry, they're pretty self-sufficient."

Verena remembered how clueless she was about household chores in daycare, yet these two managed just fine at home, even though Drusilla wasn't too keen on them doing chores.

To Verena, these kids were capable of anything.

Lilith mused, "That's so nice! It makes me want to have kids too."

She had always thought of parenthood as a distant concept, assuming it would drain a lot of her energy. Yet, seeing Colton and Cormac made her reconsider.

Blythe went to the restroom, leaving the two women chatting outside.

Soon, a man emerged from the men's room.

Reluctantly, Verena was dragged away by Mr. Hill.

...

When Colton and Cormac returned, they found Blythe and Lilith but not Verena.

"Where's Verena?" Cormac asked, casually using her first name as he often did, which neither Blythe nor Lilith found odd.

Lilith explained, "She had to attend to some work stuff and had to leave. Colton, Cormac, why don't we wait outside for her?"

"No," Cormac objected. "She might not find us if we move."

Lilith reassured, "I know where you live. We can just call her later."

Cormac shook his head.

Blythe sighed, looking at Lilith. "How can I be at ease leaving the kids with her like this?"

Lilith suggested, "Maybe you should talk to Uncle Enoch, urge him to divorce and marry Verena, and then bring the kids home. From what I see, Verena won't agree to let the kids go unless she's part of the family."
