Drusilla paused for a moment when she heard the noise, but still made her way towards the living room.
Before she could enter, Lilith emerged from it.
Lilith, spotting Drusilla, asked, “Aunt Drusilla, what are you doing here?”
“I heard a child crying. What’s going on?”
“Oh.” Lilith seized the moment to boast, “It’s Uncle Enoch’s kids. We brought them back. They’ve been crying non-stop, but that’s none of your business. It’s late, you should head back. Your kids must be waiting at home for you.”
Since Drusilla had her own children to take care of, she didn’t usually stay with the Taylors. It was somewhat ironic that Lilith, meeting her for the first time, remarked on how unusual it was for a married couple to live apart.
But then again, with her looks, could she even match up to her uncle’s standards? Their marriage was nothing more than a performance for her grandparents in Lilith’s eyes.
So, she wasn’t the least bit worried about Drusilla causing any drama in the Taylor household!
Drusilla said, “I heard the little ones crying, I just wanted to check on them.”
Hearing Drusilla’s concern for the children, Lilith blocked her way, saying, “That won’t be necessary. We’re here to take care of them, and they have their own mother. You never liked them anyway, so who knows if you’d end up hurting them?”
“I wouldn’t do such a senseless thing,” Drusilla explained. Why would she harm her own children?
Lilith scoffed, “If he could fall for someone like you, he’d definitely appreciate Verena. She’s leagues above you, and she even defended you today! Her kids are so well-behaved. Only a mother like her could raise such adorable children. Unlike yours... all they know is violence.”
Lilith had seen Drusilla’s kids at a diner once, but they were wearing hats, so she didn’t see their faces clearly.
In Lilith’s mind, Drusilla’s kids couldn’t hold a candle to Enoch’s.
Listening to Lilith’s mixed insults and praises about Colton and Cormac, Drusilla smirked, wondering what Lilith’s reaction would be if she knew that the kids she adored and despised were actually the same, Colton and Cormac.
Looking at Lilith, Drusilla said, “What if your uncle doesn’t marry Verena? Don’t forget, his wife is still me.”
