As she walked home, thoughts swirled in her mind. She wanted to leave the past behind and not dredge it up again. Yet here she was, forced to confront it all over again.
Drusilla could handle the bitterness herself, but the idea of her father enduring Saskia’s harsh words was just too much to bear.
Clenching her fists, she looked Saskia straight in the eye and let out a cold laugh. “You’re calling me shameless?”
“If not shameless, then what? You cheated and now you won’t leave my brother Harlan alone!” Saskia shot back, unfazed by Drusilla's defiance.
Saskia had always harbored a grudge against Drusilla. Today, with the whole family drama unfolding, she felt she had the perfect opportunity to finally make Drusilla pay. She was determined to reclaim her dignity after the embarrassment she faced at the Taylor family’s last gathering.
Drusilla, undeterred by Saskia’s aggression, replied, “A lot of things are in the past. But since you insist on bringing it up today, let’s clear the air once and for all.”
“Oh, I’d love to hear what kind of fairy tales you can spin,” Saskia sneered, clearly skeptical. In her eyes, no amount of explanation could erase what Drusilla had done.
Drusilla settled on the couch next to her father, fixing her gaze on Saskia. “Ever since Harlan and I divorced, you’ve spread rumors about me cheating, insulted me, and even confronted my dad. Do you deny it?”
Her words caught Hestia off-guard, leaving her momentarily speechless. Unlike Saskia’s directness, Hestia preferred subtler tactics. Yet Drusilla’s bluntness left her scrambling to defend herself. “Honey, that’s not what I meant. Drusilla misunderstood me.”
Drusilla smirked at Hestia’s feigned innocence. “Four years ago, I was pregnant with twins, exhausted beyond belief, so I didn’t have the energy to argue. You all took advantage of that, trying to walk all over me. But let’s be clear—I’m still here! Still breathing! Is that what bothers you so much?”
Marcella, sitting with an air of superiority, chimed in, “Drusilla, you’re being dramatic. You cheated—it’s a fact. If this were the old days, you’d be in serious trouble for that. My mom might be fiery, but she’s hardly out to get you.”
“Cheating?” Drusilla retorted, “If you’re so sure I cheated, then who was it with? You’re making serious accusations without a shred of evidence. Even if Harlan were standing here right now, I’d like to see him make that claim.”
