No matter what, getting on Lilith's bad side is always a no-go!
Right then, someone showed up. "What's going on here?"
Enoch appeared at the doorway, Oberon pushing his wheelchair from behind.
Drusilla looked up to see Enoch, who, given it was nighttime and he was at home, was dressed casually in an unbuttoned white shirt that revealed his collarbones.
Oberon wheeled him into the living room, where he surveyed the tense faces, his own expression darkening at the sight.
Especially Lilith, who usually glowed like a little sun, but now sported a sullen expression. "Uncle Enoch."
Upon seeing Enoch, Harlan also stood up, respectfully greeting, "Uncle Enoch."
"What's the trouble? Who's been giving you grief?" Enoch was particularly fond of his niece.
Lilith pouted, "It's nothing, I just feel like... like I'm being overlooked these days, like anyone thinks they can just walk all over me."
Enoch frowned, protective as ever. "With me around, who dares to mess with you?"
Drusilla, sitting off to the side, watched as Lilith's gaze quickly turned towards her.
It seemed obvious to anyone that Drusilla was at fault...
Yet, Drusilla appreciated Enoch giving her the chance to explain.
"Why did I hit him? Because Harlan pushed my four-year-old son, causing him to hit his head against the wall, leaving a huge bump. My son is still at home, which is why I was late today. If Oberon hadn't called me, I would have stayed home to look after him. I can endure a lot, but I cannot tolerate anyone harming my child. And you expect an apology from me for that? That's out of the question!"
Not going after Harlan for revenge was one thing, but apologizing to him?
Lilith retorted, "Your child started it. Harlan's mother is still nursing an injured hand, probably in the hospital by now. Even if he did hurt your child, it wasn't on purpose. Harlan is usually so gentle, especially with kids, how could he possibly harm your child? Maybe you should reflect on how you're raising your kid. If your child acts this way, perhaps it's your failure, isn’t it?"
