Drusilla mumbled under her breath, "Talk about throwing your weight around, classic rich dad move."
...
Althea had been pacing by the door for a solid twenty minutes, growing increasingly impatient as Drusilla showed no sign of emerging from Enoch's office. She furrowed her brows, muttering, "How much longer are we supposed to wait?"
The assistant replied, "Just a bit more, she might be out any minute now."
Althea couldn't hide her frustration. "What if we're late?"
"Don't worry, I'll call in a favor."
...
Forty minutes later, Drusilla finally wrapped up her morning session of physical therapy.
As she gathered her things, Enoch called out, "Wait for me outside. We'll grab lunch together."
"Uh..." Drusilla glanced at him, hesitating, "That's okay. I can just..."
"Are you rejecting me?" His tone was slightly irked, a clear sign of displeasure at being turned down.
Remembering the generous paycheck he offered, Drusilla forced a smile. "Of course, Mr. Taylor, I'll wait outside."
She picked up her bag and headed for the door.
Seeing the office door finally open, Althea jumped to her feet, frustration evident on her face.
The wait was killing her.
Spotting Althea, Drusilla said, "Althea, Mr. Taylor wants to see you."
Althea frowned, casting a glance at Drusilla, "I thought you were never coming out!"
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
After watching Althea enter the office, Drusilla took a seat on the couch outside.
"High school?" Enoch was surprised, "I was under the impression she graduated from Creston University."
Enoch had heard from Oberon that Drusilla was a Creston University alumna. Given the university's reputation, its graduates were typically top-notch. How Drusilla ended up in her current state was beyond him.
However, Althea being a Creston alumna was news to him.
Embarrassed, Althea corrected, "We were high school classmates."
Though they shared a high school, their college paths diverged dramatically. Drusilla excelled academically, securing a spot at Creston University as the top student, while Althea settled for a less prestigious college.
Yet, this didn't stop her from looking down on Drusilla.
Althea shared, "For someone who attended such a prestigious university, I never expected Drusilla to end up like this. She got married right after graduation, to a guy named Harlan. But after a scandalous affair and two kids, even her father disowned her. Mr. Taylor, you might want to be cautious in your dealings with her."
Enoch had heard enough of Drusilla's past. He fixed Althea with a stare and asked, "Are you trying to tell me how to run my business?"
Althea, caught off guard by his intimidating gaze, realized Enoch was a force to be reckoned with.
