Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 64

Enoch was fuming with irritation the more he thought about it!

Was Drusilla trying to make a fool out of him? If that were the case, he wouldn't let her get away with it!

Hearing his accusations, Drusilla couldn't help but feel defiant. “Mr. Taylor, you're way out of line. Have you forgotten that our marriage is just for show? Why do you sound like a jealous boyfriend?”

Jealous?

That word hit a nerve with Enoch.

He would never be jealous!

Absolutely not!

He looked at Drusilla, defensively arguing, “Me, jealous? You must be dreaming. I'm just kindly reminding you that Serge wouldn’t go for a divorcee like you. He would never marry you!”

Drusilla retorted, “Well, you don’t need to worry about that! Yes, I've been divorced, but not everyone is as prejudiced against divorcees as you are. If I could marry you, why couldn’t I marry Serge?”

“The Denton family is nothing like mine. You're dreaming!”

It was clear now, she really did fancy marrying Serge! This woman, quite the dreamer.

Drusilla continued, “Dr. Denton is a gentleman through and through, and I bet his family is just as refined. After all, a person’s manners often reflect their upbringing. His family probably isn’t too bad either.”

“Say that again.” Enoch was getting angry now.

Criticizing him was one thing, but dragging his family into it too?

Seeing Enoch’s irritation, Drusilla decided to drop it. She glanced at the time and said, “We’re done with lunch, so can I go back and rest now?”

“No way.” Enoch immediately dismissed her hopes of sneaking in a nap.

“What now?”

But... when the curtain was drawn and Drusilla appeared, Enoch paused for a moment.

The dress, which seemed ordinary at first, suddenly looked exceptional on Drusilla. Standing there, she was so tired, caught up in this tedious task, looking rather disinterested.

She said nonchalantly, “I think this one’s fine, let’s go with it.”

It wasn’t like they were actually getting married. Trying on a few dresses and going through the motions was enough, why bother being so serious?

Yet, after she spoke, she noticed Enoch sitting there, staring at her, silent. It seemed he wasn’t quite satisfied.

The attendant quickly suggested, “Let’s try another one on for size.”

Drusilla agreed, “Sure.”

After all, who was she to argue with the man footing the bill?

And so, the curtain closed again, with Enoch sitting back, taking his eyes off her for a moment.
