Wendell mumbled, "Oh."
He then turned to Drusilla and said, "Odette, come on, eat up."
Lilith pressed her forehead, feeling an unprecedented level of helplessness towards Wendell’s confusion.
Lilith exclaimed, “Great-grandpa, you’ve really lost it this time!”
While Wendell and Drusilla were munching away, Wendell curiously asked Drusilla, “By the way, Odette, who is this girl? She’s been yapping on and on, driving me nuts.”
Lilith was speechless. She couldn’t believe Wendell didn’t recognize her!
After all, it was she who had been by his side at the hospital. It felt so unfair!
Now, he only recognized Drusilla, treating her as his closest kin!
Seeing Wendell chatting with Drusilla, Lilith felt utterly dejected. She stood up and walked out.
Outside, Harlan approached her, “Lilith.”
Lilith asked, “How did it go? What did Uncle Enoch say?”
Probably gave Harlan a piece of his mind again!
With Enoch now shielding Drusilla, even though the afternoon’s mess wasn’t Harlan’s fault, he still got the blame. Lilith felt helpless.
Harlan gloomily said, “He’s lost it. He’s talking about transferring me to Africana.”
“What?” Lilith gasped in shock, “That’s way out of line! We just got married, and you haven’t done anything to upset him. Why would he do that?”
Just for Drusilla?
That was utterly unfair!
Seeing Lilith’s troubled expression, Baxter asked, “What’s the matter? Who’s been picking on you? Was it you?”
His gaze fell on Harlan, who had followed them down.
Harlan was speechless.
He was the victim here, yet somehow, he was getting blamed?
Lilith said, “It’s not Harlan. He would never bully me. It’s Uncle Enoch.”
“Oh.” Baxter’s tone softened considerably, “Ah, it’s Enoch.”
It was as if he was about to add, ‘then it’s all good!’
After a moment, he said to Lilith, “Well, Enoch’s been having a tough time with his disability, might be a bit grumpy. Try to bear with him a bit. Don’t make a fuss, okay?”
