Seeing him like this, Dorian felt helpless. He unlocked his phone, pulled up the news story that had already caused a massive storm online and taken the number one trending spot, and held the phone up to Finnian’s face.
“She really is getting married. To Keith. I remember they were childhood friends, right?”
“Keith?”
Finnian's eyes widened, glued to the screen in Dorian’s hand, a violent storm raging within him.
His eyes quickly became bloodshot, turning a frightening shade of red. He looked like a wild beast just released from its cage, utterly terrifying.
Dorian patted his shoulder. “This has to be real. Keith and Amara announced it themselves after the press conference today. Twitter has exploded.”
“But don't be too devastated,” Dorian said. “Aren't you getting married soon yourself? It was only a matter of time before Amara got married. You have to accept it.”
No, how could he accept it?
Finnian used to think that Amara had to be happy in the future, that she had to find a man who would make her happy. He just hoped it wouldn't be Keith. As long as it wasn't Keith, it wouldn't hurt so much.
But now he realized that it didn't matter if it was Keith or not. The pain was just as unbearable, because the point wasn't Keith himself, but that Amara had fallen in love with another man. Amara was going to marry someone else.
The thought of Amara being with another man, sharing intimate moments, and gently calling him ‘husband,’ was more than Finnian could bear. His heart felt like it was being torn in two.
He ran out like a madman, startling the employees outside his office.
Dorian strode out after him but couldn't even see a trace of Finnian. He shook his head in resignation.
“Mr. Hawke, what's wrong with Mr. Everly? Why did he suddenly run out like that?”
Will asked cautiously.
“Amara is getting married. To Keith.”
