**TITLE: A Divorce 819**
“I’m not leaving you. You can shout, you can hit me, but the truth is, I’m sleeping right here with you. You have no choice in the matter,” he declared firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument.
With that, he scooped Aveline up in his arms, cradling her against his chest as he laid her gently on the bed. Climbing in beside her, he wrapped his arms around her, a protective cocoon against the world outside.
“Close your eyes and go to sleep,” he murmured, his tone softening. “You need to rest. We’ll face everything else tomorrow.”
Aveline, feeling the weight of exhaustion pressing down on her, couldn’t muster the energy to protest anymore. Instead, she surrendered to the darkness, letting her eyelids flutter shut as sleep washed over her.
The loss of her mother had carved a deep, aching void in her heart, one that Jacob’s death couldn’t even begin to fill. In truth, the pain of his absence felt muted, almost deserved; he had orchestrated his own demise, after all.
Meanwhile, Amy was aware of some news that needed to be shared, but she hesitated. Mr. Beltran and his wife were in desperate need of rest, so she refrained from disturbing their peace. Besides, the police were already mobilizing; the perpetrator would not evade capture.
As the clock struck ten, Xavier stirred awake. His gaze fell on Aveline, who remained peacefully asleep beside him. Not wanting to disturb her serenity, he stayed still, content to simply hold her and observe the rise and fall of her chest.
At precisely ten-thirty, a small bird alighted on the windowsill, its cheerful chirping cutting through the stillness of the room. Aveline’s eyes fluttered open at the sound, and she blinked in the soft morning light.
“Ah, you’re awake,” Xavier said, his voice a gentle caress.
Aveline glanced at him, irritation flaring as she pushed against him, attempting to extricate herself from his grip.
But Xavier tightened his hold, planting a tender kiss on the crown of her head. “Why not sleep a little longer? You can be so mean to me when you wake up,” he teased, a playful lilt in his voice.
“Xavier, can you just piss off?” she replied coldly, her irritation palpable.
He chuckled, the sound warm and rich. “I have a feeling I’m destined to endure a lifetime of your verbal jabs.”
“Alright, time to get up,” she declared, her tone leaving no room for negotiation.
With a reluctant sigh, Xavier released her and swung his legs over the side of the bed, standing up and stretching before stepping out of Aveline’s bedroom.
As he made his way down the hallway, he spotted Amy waiting for him, her expression serious.
“Mr. Beltran, Eileen and Vincent have both provided their statements. They’ve also given the police all the evidence they had,” she reported, her voice steady.
“Josephine hasn’t returned to the hospital. Given that Courtney just had a miscarriage, the police have stationed an officer outside her room. She’s maintaining that neither she nor Josephine knew Jacob was murdered, and she’s already hired a lawyer,” Amy continued, her tone matter-of-fact.
“The police have tracked down Hilda and are preparing to arrest her,” she added.
Xavier frowned, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. “And what about Paul?” he inquired, his voice tinged with concern.
“He’s on the run,” Amy replied, her gaze unwavering.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
