**A Divorce 822**
“I simply couldn’t tolerate the way your side of the family consistently pilfers from ours,” she exclaimed, her voice laced with indignation. “So, I had Stephen take those matters into his own hands. And what did we end up with? Xavier, let’s be real here—hasn’t Josephine wrapped her claws around you as well?”
Xavier stood there, his expression as frigid as the winter air outside, watching his Aunt unleash her fury. Her words hung in the air, thick with accusation and bitterness. Just then, the door to the study creaked open, and Jason appeared, his face a storm of shame and anger.
“What… what have you two done?” he demanded, his voice trembling slightly, a mixture of disbelief and frustration evident in his tone.
Aunt turned, her surprise palpable. “Jason, you… why are you here?” she stammered, momentarily caught off guard by his sudden entrance.
Jason took a deep breath, his heart racing. “Mom, I mentioned back in college that I had a crush on Aveline, but once I realized she liked Xavier, those feelings faded away. They’re gone, I promise.”
“You… you… sigh. Xavier, my mother is simply confused. I… I…” His voice trailed off, overwhelmed by the weight of the moment.
Rupert, observing Jason’s evident struggle, interjected in a commanding tone, “That’s enough, Jason. This is not your fault. It was your parents who made the mistake, not you. You have nothing to apologize for.”
“Now, go back to your room for the time being,” he added, his voice firm, yet not unkind.
Jason shot a glance at Xavier, whose face was a mask of cold detachment, before he turned and left, a sense of helplessness washing over him, mingling with mortification.
Xavier’s gaze caught sight of Helena standing just outside the door. He stepped out, the urgency of the situation propelling him forward.
As Jason saw him emerge, he rushed over, desperation in his eyes. “Xavier, I truly don’t have feelings for Aveline, I swear, I—”
Xavier cut him off sharply, his voice devoid of any warmth. “I couldn’t care less about your feelings for my wife. What matters to me is that my wife has no feelings for you.”
Jason’s mouth opened, but no words came out. He felt a wave of frustration wash over him, but he knew better than to press further.
Xavier turned his attention to Helena, his brow furrowing. “What is it?” he asked, his tone clipped.
Helena replied, her voice steady, “Ma’am is heading to the Garden Estate now.”
A sense of urgency tightened Xavier’s expression. He called out for Amy, his mind racing as he hurried to locate Aveline.
As Aveline descended the stairs, Xavier sprinted after her. “Aveline, I’m coming with you,” he declared, determination etched on his face.
Aveline cast a fleeting glance at him, her expression unreadable, before she continued her descent, ignoring his presence.
Once outside, Xavier seized her arm gently but firmly. “In a situation like this, don’t push me away. I’m not comfortable with you going out alone. Paul is still on the loose.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
