Watch Me Win Alpha (Olivia and Ethan) novel Chapter 354

Chapter 354

She kissed me on the check as she handed me a bag that she filled with double fudge brownies, slices of thick apple pie, sticky toffee pudding, strawberry cheesecake, red velvet cupcakes, and blueberry cobbler.

I’d like that,she said.

My heart ached as I buckled my seatbelt in the cab that was headed back into the city. I turned around in my seat and watched until my parentshouse disappeared from view.

As the yellow taxi crept closer to the city, my stomach rolled. It seemed like the closer I got home, the nearer I was to all the problems that I left behind.

An hour later, the taxi driver pulled up to the curb in front of my apartment building. I opened my wallet to pay, but he put his hand up and said that my mother had already taken care of the bill.

As I gathered my desserts and exited the cab, tears pricked at the backs of my eyes. I wasn’t sure why the fact that my mother paid for my ride home was making me cry.

In my apartment, I stored my desserts and then got dressed to go into the office. I chose a sleek black dress that hugged my curves but was still appropriate in length for work. I curled my auburn hair and applied ruby red lipstick. I wanted to wear my black stilettos to finish off my look, but I was afraid that my ankle couldn’t handle the dangerously high heels. Jacob had warned me that my injury was still healing. I sighed and put on a pair of black flats instead.

I brewed a double shot of espresso and poured it over ice, then added milk and vanilla syrup to make a vanilla iced latte. Once I was ready, I headed back down to the parking garage.

But as soon as I stepped out of my apartment doors, I spotted one of the last people that I wanted to see right now.

Aidyn.

He was dressed in scrubs and carried a briefcase. It looked like he was headed into work. His red hair was blowing in the wind, and his eyes traveled down my body. I didn’t miss the way that they darkened with desire.

Hello, Mr. Keller,I said formally, remembering how jealous I had gotten about the thought that Alexander was spending time with other girls.

I didn’t want to give Aidyn the wrong impression that I was flirting.

Aidyn pushed his glasses back onto his face. Even though he was better looking than when we were kids. I could still see traces of the nerdwho the other kids used to bully relentlessly. I always stuck up for him when people would make fun of him at school. He was my friend and also the best tutor that I’d ever had.

You can call me, Aidyn, you know,he said and laughed goodnaturedly. Aren’t we old friends?

I didn’t want to answer his question. His tone made it apparent to me that he wanted to be a lot more than friends.

Are you headed to work?I asked and nodded at his suitcase.

Yes,he answered, and then his eyes brightened. Hey, I’m actually glad that I ran into you. I was hoping to exchange numbers.”

I froze as my pulse quickened. I wasn’t sure what the right thing to do was. I knew that if the situation were reversed, I wouldn’t want Alexander exchanging numbers with someone who obviously wanted to date him. On the other hand, Aidyn and I’s mothers were good friends. I didn’t want things to become awkward by refusing.

Eventually, I gave in and handed Aidyn my phone to put his number in.
