## Chapter 27: What Exactly Do You Mean by “The Same“?
“Alright, but hurry up!”
“Got it!” Britney’s swimsuit was picked out by Camren. It was a unique, designer piece, a little intricate.
It was Britney’s first time wearing it, and it took her a while to figure out the structure and get it on.
She glanced in the mirror. The swimsuit wasn’t revealing at all, but it perfectly accentuated her natural
curves–it looked great.
Britney added a bathrobe on top before heading out.
Nelson had booked a private hot spring pool, which offered excellent privacy. Britney walked over with a light step, but as she passed a landscape of green plants, someone grabbed her arm!
She instinctively yelled for help, but the person clapped a hand over her mouth first.
Britney froze. She knew those hands all too well.
For many years, whenever she saw those hands, she was reminded of being abandoned in a fire, calling out
for help, desperately feeling the heat, waiting to die.
It was those* hands that reached out to her.
And because of that, she once wanted to hold onto them tightly, no matter the cost.
“It’s me.” A familiar voice sounded in Britney’s ear.
She stopped struggling, waiting quietly for him to let go.
“Britney.” Ryan’s voice was low and hoarse. “Let’s talk.”
Britney tightened her grip on Ryan’s hand, and only then did he release her.
“Ldon’t think we have anything left to talk about,” Britney said, her voice cool.
“I didn’t marry Skylar,” Ryan said, his tone growing more anxious when he saw Britney frown.
“I’m telling you the truth. Everything at the wedding was just for show. Skylar and I didn’t register our marriage. The wedding was fake.”
*Fake again?*
Hearing that, Britney just found it laughable. If Ryan hadn’t wanted it, he could have stopped the wedding at any time.
He hadn’t done so because he had a scale in his heart, weighing his feelings against the gains and losses of

the wedding.
After deliberating, he found that nothing was more important than his reputation, his face, and his career, so
he made his choice.
She wasn’t stupid, and she saw it clearly.
But none of that had anything to do with her anymore.
Britney turned to leave, but then she heard his deep voice demand, “What about you?”
Britney didn’t stop walking, nor did she have any intention of explaining herself.
Ryan watched Britney walk away without looking back, and the anger he had painstakingly suppressed these past few days surged again.
He stepped forward and gripped Britney’s arm tightly. “When are you getting a divorce?”
Britney didn’t even have time to process the pain in her arm, her eyes wide with shock. “Why would I get a
divorce?”
“Britney Simpson, when did you become so unreasonable?” Ryan furrowed his brow, his eyes full of disbelief.
“Are you really resorting to this to get my attention?”
**Me* unreasonable? *Me* trying to get *your* attention?” Britney scoffed, a laugh catching in her throat. “What did I do to give you that impression, Ryan?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Ryan said with conviction. “I checked. After you saw me with Skylar, you started calling old
Mr. Lewis frequently.”
“Then someone overheard old Mr. Lewis and Camren having a huge fight.”
“Didn’t you beg old Mr. Lewis to have Camren go along with you, just to make me angry?”
“You’ve caused enough of a scene. I even called you ‘Auntie‘ in front of everyone. Haven’t you gotten your
revenge yet?”
“Britney Simpson, you’ve gone too far this time,” Ryan continued, talking to himself. “But considering our years of history, I can forgive you this once.”
“Divorce quickly, so you don’t end up getting kicked out by Camren later.”
“I won’t pursue it any further-”
Britney was utterly speechless. Not only had Ryan checked her call records, but he’d also concocted a perfectly logical–to him–story?
What surprised Britney even more was that Camren had actually had a huge fight with old Mr. Lewis.

*Why?*
*Because of her? Because old Mr. Lewis wanted him to marry her?*
So… Camren didn’t want to marry her?
Then what was with him being so good to her all this time?
Was it just out of respect for an arranged marriage partner?
Britney recalled their intimacy in the room not long ago…
Were none of those moments genuine for Camren?
Was he merely fulfilling his duty as a good husband?
Britney’s face instantly fell. She shook her head with a bitter smile. *It truly was difficult for Camren.*
Seeing Britney’s troubled expression, Ryan instinctively felt he had hit a nerve.
He let out a sigh of relief, then, feigning generosity, said, “You can explain this to old Mr. Lewis yourself, then get a divorce. I won’t look into it anymore.”
“We can go back to how we were.”
