29 Chapter 29
## Chapter 29: These Guys Are Bodyguards
Britney always knew Skylar was pretty and she was really good at playing up her delicate, helpless woman vibe. Seriously, anyone who saw her would instantly feel a pang of sympathy. This time, Britney figured, wouldn’t be any different.
Camren’s expression didn’t change a bit. He just raised his foot and kicked Skylar right in the knee, forcing her back a few steps. His face was pure disgust. “Did no one ever tell you?” he bit out. “What happens to women who get too close to my wife?”
Britney flinched, and Skylar looked totally shocked.
Everyone in their circle had heard the rumors about Camren. But then he got married, and not just married, but married a neglected and disabled Britney from the Simpson family. Naturally, everyone assumed Camren had changed. Especially Skylar. She just couldn’t believe Britney could do it, that she *couldn’t*. But the searing pain in her knee made it crystal clear: Camren felt zero sympathy or attraction for her. Instead, he was holding Britney–the one who was all tangled up with Ryan–tightly in his arms.
Nelson snorted, “Seriously? Overestimating herself.” He shook his head. “My man Camren got married, but he
didn’t become a vegetarian, and his legs are definitely still working.”
Camren never had a ‘no hitting women‘ rule, but that didn’t mean he disrespected them. Quite the opposite,
actually. He truly admired women who had their own drive and worked hard. In business or at his company, he’d always give women preferential treatment. His harshness was reserved only for those women with impure intentions, who wanted to trade their bodies for favors. He had zero interest in being a stepping stone
for anyone.
“You gonna roll out yourself, or should I have someone help you roll?” Camren’s gaze didn’t even land on Skylar for a second, but his voice was packed with an undeniable, unshakeable pressure.
Skylar’s knee was throbbing. She just couldn’t wrap her head around it. Her beauty, which she was so proud
of, and her foolproof tactic of stirring up trouble–why were they utterly useless when it came to Camren?
But she didn’t dare say another word. The sheer pressure radiating from Camren was terrifying. Ryan Lewis,
compared to him, was nothing.
Skylar could only hobble away.
Seeing this, Ryan started to follow her.
“Hold it right there.” As soon as Ryan took a step, Camren’s voice sliced through the air. “You haven’t answered my question.” Camren lifted his eyes, meeting Ryan’s evasive gaze. “What were you… doing just
now?”
Britney was closest to Camren, and she could distinctly feel the anger and coldness radiating from him. Her small hand pressed against his chest. She wanted to pull away a little, but he caught her hand, holding it

firmly in his large palm. He wasn’t gripping her hard, but the warmth of his hand chased away the chill in her heart, making her stop struggling.
Ryan’s body was still poised as if he wanted to sneak away, his head leaning forward, his body slightly hunched. Camren didn’t seem to be in any hurry, just watching him silently. But everyone knew, the calmer he appeared now, the fiercer the fire raging inside him would be.
“Uncle… I…”
“Come here.” Camren commanded.
Ryan took two steps forward. Camren said nothing, clearly not satisfied. Ryan reluctantly took two more steps. But before he could even steady himself, Camren delivered another kick. This one was clearly much harder than the first. Ryan stumbled and couldn’t get up for a moment. He braced himself with one hand on his knee, his face instantly turning crimson.
Seeing this, Britney frowned slightly.
“Does that hurt your heart?” Camren’s index finger brushed against her small hand, asking as if casually.
Britney shook her head. Not heartbreak. She just didn’t like scenes like this. “The slap mark on his face? I did
that.”
Camren squeezed her fingers once more before releasing her hand and walking over to Ryan. He knelt down and squeezed Ryan’s chin. It didn’t look like he was using force, but the people around him could hear the grinding of bone. Camren had originally planned to go to the hot springs, so he was only wearing swim trunks with a bathrobe loosely tied at his waist. As he knelt, his toned, muscular chest was exposed. This Camren, even kneeling, didn’t lose his edge against Ryan; in fact, he exuded an overwhelming, powerful aura. “Regretting it? Want to go back and steal her?”
The flicker in Ryan’s eyes was his answer.
Camren’s gaze remained steady as he simply quirked a corner of his mouth. “Alright.”
Ryan felt like he’d misheard. What did Camren just say?
“If you’ve got the guts, you’re welcome to try and snatch her anytime.” He leaned closer, speaking into Ryan’s ear. “But… if I ever see you hurt her again, I’ll make you pay back ten, a hundred times over.” He paused. “You know I don’t play fair.”
Camren’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried an undeniable oppressiveness that sent a shiver down Ryan’s spine. Camren really wasn’t a reasonable person. He always did things purely based on his own whims. Once, during a Lewis family dinner, some distant uncle somehow annoyed him. Camren completely disregarded the family’s reputation and spread videos of the uncle’s scandalous affairs online, plastered with huge, attention–grabbing text detailing the uncle’s identity.
