Gianna was furious, but she didn’t dare show it. She flicked her gaze toward Maxwell, who was standing behind her.
Maxwell had just arrived. The moment he saw Gianna being picked on, he stepped forward like a mother hen shielding her chick.
“Amelia, Gianna has been through a lot lately. She’s only just recovered. Can’t you cut her some slack?”
“Nope. Even if she dropped dead, it has nothing to do with me.” Amelia shrugged.
What’s his deal? Thinks I’m the easy one to pick on? What a clown.
“We’re family! How can you say something like that?”
Maxwell realized Amelia wasn’t the pushover she used to be and quickly turned to Marcelo, who’d come along.
“Marcelo, say something! She’s out of control!
“We just wanted to take Gianna out for a drink and relax, and now it’s all gone sideways!”
Marcelo had only wanted to sip his drink and watch the drama. He’d been hoping to see his brother get dragged down by Gianna’s mess.
But before he could even enjoy it, he was sucked into the chaos as well.
“You’re the one who brought her. Don’t drag me into it.” He immediately cut himself loose.
Amelia blinked, surprised at his reaction.

Now Marcelo wouldn’t even say Gianna’s name, acting like being linked to her was gross.
It made Amelia wonder if they were cooking up some new scheme.
“Marcelo, how can you talk like that? We’re family!” Maxwell still didn’t get it.
The Nygards had always acted like a big happy family–except for Amelia, of course. They were “united” in everything!
