Chapter 25 Day of Reckoning
The other guests were also interviewed.
Only Gianna had nobody bothering to interview her.
She was so embarrassed she wished the ground would swallow her.
Gianna forced a smile, her nails digging deep into her palms.
Finished
She pushed herself in front of the camera. “This experience taught me so much. I want to thank Amelia for taking care of me and the other guests too. Our time together was absolutely unforgettable.”
But the audience wasn’t buying it. “Fake” kept flooding the live chat.
They were talking about Gianna.
The moment Gianna stopped talking, reporters shared knowing looks. They clearly weren’t impressed by her obvious attempt to steal the spotlight.
The live chat went completely wild.
“Can Gianna please stop riding on Amelia’s coattails? All she did was fake being her friend.”
“Right! Did she forget how she bad–mouthed Amelia behind her back?”
“Seriously, how can she mention being taken care of? Who abandoned their teammate during the storm?”
“What a bitch! Still playing the victim card.”
Amelia stood nearby, lips slightly curved but eyes completely cold.
She knew Gianna too well. She never missed a chance to ride someone else’s coattails.
But the reporters were clearly more interested in Amelia. Seeing Amelia looked tired, the director quickly stepped in. “Everyone, tonight is primarily a celebration. We’ll arrange detailed interviews later!”
At the party, guests gathered in small groups, chatting and laughing.
Amelia held a glass of champagne, standing alone on the terrace. She was thinking about getting back to Jeremy’s treatment. That man had texted her the second she got back.
He even said he’d personally pick her up later.
“Why are you hiding out here alone?” Patricia approached, handing Amelia a small plate of cake. “Try this. It’s their signature
dessen
Amelia took it and thanked her.
Suddenly, Gianna’s sickeningly sweet voice cut through the air. “Amelia, so this is where you are!”
She walked over, holding a wine glass.
“What do you want? Amelia’s tone was icy.
Gianna pretended not to notice her cold shoulder, smiling sweetly. “Marcelo just called. He wants us to come home after the Party”
I have other plans tonight. Amelia flatly refused.
“Amelia, Marcelo wants to discuss your contract. You won’t refuse, will you?” Gianna emphasized the word “contract.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll go back tomorrow. Amelia replied indifferently.
