Amelia flipped through the medical file with quick, steady fingers. Her sharp eyes scanned each line with focus and calm precision.

Aunt Thea’s case was complicated. The tumor had wrapped itself around a major artery. One wrong move, and the patient might not survive the surgery.

No wonder most doctors refused to take the risk.

But Amelia wasn’t like most doctors.

Those idiots thought they could use this to threaten me? Pathetic.

The room fell silent except for the soft rustle of paper.

“Haha, pretending to be smart,” Maxwell muttered. “Does she think reading a few files makes her a doctor?”

Gianna puckered her lips contemptuously and mocked, “When did you become a surgeon? Since when can you read scans like a pro?”

Thea looked at them, her heart aching. These people were supposed to be family, but right now, they felt like strangers.

“How could you?” she whispered, her voice trembling with anger.

“You people are shameless!” Thea shouted, then turned to Amelia, her voice trembling. “Amelia, don’t listen to them. My illness can’t be cured. Even if you sign those papers, the surgery has a 99% chance of failing. Please, just leave!”

Amelia gave the Nygards a cold glance before turning back to her aunt. She gently patted Thea’s hand. “Aunt Thea, I’m going to make the arrangements for your surgery. Get some rest. You’re going to be fine.”

With that, Amelia stood up and walked out.

Thea’s condition was critical. There was no time to waste. Amelia had to act fast.

She needed to contact the hospital and secure access to the right operating room and equipment.

Amelia was going to perform the surgery herself.

If she remembered correctly, this hospital was under the Curran Group. That meant one call to Jeremy would be enough.

She quickened her pace down the hallway.

Behind her, the Nygards stood frozen in disbelief. Amelia had just walked away, completely ignoring Thea’s “life–or–death” situation.

Raymond watched Amelia’s back as she walked away and exploded in anger. “You see that, Thea? Amelia’s an ungrateful brat! After all you’ve done for her!”

Gianna crossed her arms and ridiculed, “Exactly, Aunt Thea, Who would’ve thought Amelia was that kind of person? She doesn’t even care if you live or die. What a disappointment”

Thea glared at them with fury. “My illness has nothing to do with Amelia! You–get out!”

Her voice cracked through the air like thunder. The entire room went still.

Raymond’s face turned purple, his voice shaking with rage. “Thea! What kind of attitude is that? We’re trying to help you!”

“Help me?” Thea laughed bitterly. A faint flush of red crept onto her pale cheeks. “You’re not helping me. You’re using my illness to pressure Amelia into giving up her shares! Let me tell you this: even if I die, I’ll never let you win!”

In that moment, Thea finally gave up on them completely.

She couldn’t believe that the people she once called family could be this cold and cruel.

Emery face darkened at this. “Thea, calm down. You’re sick. Don’t get worked up.”

Marcelo’s face turned stormy. He grabbed Gianna’s arm before she could speak again. “Let’s go. Aunt Thea’s upset. We’ll talk when she’s calmer.”
