The Heiress They Couldn’t Break
Chapter 73 Revelation of the Divorce
“Mom, you’re finally back!” Emery rushed forward, all smiles.
Gianna looped her arm through Ursula’s and cooed, “Grandma, you’re home–I missed you so much!”
She’d dressed in a modest evening dress, looking sweet and obedient.
Ursula patted her hand and smiled kindly, “Good girl, Grandma missed you too.”
Raymond and his sons stepped forward to greet her, and Ursula responded to each of them.
“Mom, it was a hard trip–come inside and rest. The meal’s ready.”
Ursula nodded and, surrounded by the family, began to enter the house, then suddenly paused and frowned, “Where’s Amelia? Why isn’t she here?”
The air froze.
Raymond’s face shifted slightly, then he forced a smile, “Amelia’s been busy lately–she’ll probably be a bit late…”
Ursula snorted coldly, “Busy? I think she’s gotten uppity; she doesn’t even know basic manners anymore!”
Gianna’s eyes darted, and she softened her tone, “Grandma, don’t be mad. Maybe she was held up on the road.”
Maxwell seized the chance to stir things up, “Grandma, you don’t know–Amelia’s been out of control recently. She won’t even listen to Mom and Dad, and just the other day-”
“Maxwell!” Raymond cut him off sharply, “That’s enough!”
Ursula narrowed her eyes, her voice cut sharp as a blade. “Oh? So a lot happened at home while I was away?”
Just as the living room was about to explode, the front door was shoved open.
Amelia and Thea walked in together,
“Grandma, sorry I’m late,” Amelia said coolly, her gaze swept over their suddenly pale faces of the Nygards.
Ursula’s cane hit the floor with a heavy thunk. “So you could come back after all”

Thea forced a weak smile. “Mom, I’m fine. Amelia was with me, so we were late–don’t blame her.”
Amelia explained, “Aunt Thea just had surgery not long ago; she’s still weak.”
Ursula’s brow tightened. “Surgery? What kind of surgery? Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
Emery rushed forward to smooth things over. “Mom, it was just a minor procedure–Thea didn’t want to worry you.”
“A ‘minor‘ procedure leaves someone this weak? Do you all think I’m senile?” Ursula snapped, cutting her off.
“Thea, tell me the truth–what’s really wrong?”
